Robyn, Google Yamulke, Kippah, Kippot and you will find many vendors with varying prices. We have planned 3 mitzvah and I have been in the photography all my life. Try to stay calm, it will all work out. As for Security, I have seen "Off-Duty" MCP at many mitzvah a over the years

We hired a couple of high school students and fed them and asked them to sit with the kids. Nobody knew they were there to watch the kids except us. They ate with the kids and really kept an eye on the young ones. I also had a cool Aunt that is 30 t o ride the bus with the kids. She looks young and hip and most bus companies requires an adult. Off duty police are great and very professional. CES security is hired at the office building that I work in Bethesda. CES can be reached at (301) 608-8264. You may want to look around a shopping mall to see who is doing a good job with security and ask them personally to work your event.

Coughlin Transportation is reliable and reasonably priced. I used them for my older son's BM in 2008 and just this passed October for second BM. Will use then again in 2015 for my daughter's if needed. Call Mary Lou she is very helpful...301 977-8500. As for Kippot...DO NOT USE KoolKippah.com. There are many other Kippot vendors out there but go on recommendation. If you find a good one let us know:)
Robyn G. replied:
I had called a customer service paerson at kook kipas.com. Was planning to use them, how come you would not recommend them?
Marcy T. replied:
Robin Robyn Krakow Goldman I know of at least 3 families with recent mitzvahs in my shul alone who used KoolKippahs and were very frustrated by the uber-last-minute delivery timeframe. They all said they would not use them again and could not recommen d them to anyone else. For that reason, I used www.yarmulkes.com for my son's upcoming mitzvah and was impressed with the quick delivery turnaround time. I ordered at the beginning of November for a mid-January mitzvah, and received my order within 3 weeks. Hope this helps!
Looking for recommendations for a coach bus company in the DMV area. I need quotes for a trip. Thank you in advance.

Call Mt Vernon Travel and ask for the owner Betsy. Tell her you remember how Mt Vernon Woods use to go on trips to New York and Philadelphia and they always used Mt. Vernon Travel. Might not help but worth the try.
Any specific DC->NY bus company recommendations? I searched the DC reddit but couldn't find anything about it...

Check out either Megabus or Bolt Bus, usually something like $17 each way DC-NYC and you can get your tickets online Both drop you off around Penn Station NYC
daylight_rock replied:
TripperBus, if you're coming from Rosslyn or Bethesda and don't want to travel all the way downtown. $25 (and every fifth trip is free), wi-fi, drop off at Penn Station, no nonsense. I use them all the time and rarely have had a bad experience.
soondot replied:
DO NOT take Greyhound. If you must, pay extra to guarantee a seat. I arrived 45 mins before my bus was to leave. 10 people had to take the next bus (2 hours later). TL;DR: Greyhound overbooks. Don't buy.
sventyfour replied:
Hola bus is good too.
RndmHero replied:
I went to NYC for New Year's Eve last year. I took the Greyhound there and Megabus back and the total trip cost me $48. Also, Megabus is exponentially nicer than Greyhound so if that is an option for you I would definitely recommend it. $25 one way isn't bad at all considering you would pay that much in tolls alone excluding gas expense.
T-Sizzle replied:
A friend of mine from Germany came to visit me last weekend, and he used Megabus to go the reverse route, NY-DC and back, he said it was like $20 and a great experience. It dropped him off in Chinatown

Must vouch for Vamoose. Amazing service, always prompt, and more comfortable seats. $30/one way isn't too bad.

The China town buses like Eastern Travel are pretty good, some even have WiFi. Two factors make them my first choice. 1. Always on time. I'm pretty sure the drivers speed to make up for unexpected traffic. 2. They usually make the trip regardless of weather, which saved me last winter when we had that big snow storm. bolt and mega cancelled all trips, and without Eastern I would have been stranded in NYC for days. They are also nice about letting you get on the next bus if you missed the one you paid for.
trixiebix replied:
MIL takes Vamoose all the time. She loves it and the location is convenient.

Greyhound isn't bad. They often have good deals.

Would definitely give a vote for bolt bus. However, chinatown buses are also pretty cheap and convenient- ex. apex bus, etc.

Whatever you do, **don't take Greyhound.** Sketchy as hell. Megabus is fine, and the fares are ludicrously low provided you buy them in advance. Plus they allow you to switch at any time up until 24 hours for about $1. One fucking dollar. Day-of switches are $5, and they run probably 15 buses a day from NY to DC. Plus, the double-decker is awesome! Nothing is quite like cruising down the NJ Turnpike in those front, upstairs seats.

Not sure about busses to New Jersey... but it's only 10,000 miles to fly United Airlines from Columbus to Newark (one way). We pay all our bills, groceries, and everything we can on a Chase United airline miles credit card (instead of using debit card or checks) and get enough miles for at least 2 round trip flights each year. Hope that helps.
