Yes, and Mark Loffredo is the second, or even third, generation owner of Richmond Home Inspection.

100% agree with Rani above, we also just recently had John inspect the house we are buying and he was awesome, went through everything with us what was important what was not as bad, what should be code but not a big deal..and then he sent us a full detailed report with clear pictures and same more detailed layed info. I highly recommend him as well, John Gromkoski Precise Home Inspection Servicespreciseinspector@gmail.com718-514-3393http://www.homegauge.com/shgi/PreciseInspector/

Home inspection recs? Can anyone recommend a trustworthy, thorough home inspector that's available in early July? I am in the process of buying a house & want to make...

Dick Alton [https://altoninspect.com/](https://altoninspect.com/) Did mine both times I bought a house. He takes time to explain everything, and is super thorough. Even recommended we get other things that were not in his scope inspected just due to the relative age of the house. He was right. His report is even better to look back on, it's a good checklist of stuff to do if you do buy the house.

DO NOT USE THOMAS TYLER HOME INSPECTIONS! They missed NUMEROUS structural problems and electrical hazards with my house --- such as missing foundation (literally not there) , a jumpered / bypassed breaker and bootleg grounds.
The garage also has numerous issues that should be easy for someone in the know to identify (I am unfortunately now in the know).
But hey, they did a great job identifying the type of siding on the house. A home inspection is a way to back out of a house after you've committed to buying it. That's all. If you have any questions on the house itself, you will need to call in an expert in whatever field (plumbing , electrical, structural). I wish I had known that.
Incompetence has cost me greatly!

Peter Apgar did ours - he was excellent! We found out afterward that he was very active in a professional organization locally and other inspectors had good things to say about him too. https://www.homegauge.com/shgi/craftsmanhomeinspection/

Syracuse Inspections/Dan Hager did a terrible job inspecting my home. He listed a part of the foundation by the garage door as having a crack in it. It didn't have a crack...it was completely gone. It was a bunch of broken cinder block shoved in a pile under the exterior wall on either side of the garage door. A total of 3-4 ft of foundation had to be repaired. I wish my realtor had not recommended him to me.

We used Rob Matijas and were VERY happy. Super thorough, honestly maybe a little too thorough for today's market, but we bought in a much different market so it was great. He went through the entire house and even got up onto the roof at one point. Our inspection took close to 3 hours on a sub 2000 sq. ft. house! I know a lot of people who had sub one hour inspections that seemed more like a rubber stamp process, ours was not like that at all.
Post inspection we received a 19 page pdf with write up and photos that included not just items that should be fixed by the seller (luckily very few), but also recommendations of things to look at fixing as new owners- things like a slow lighting gas oven and a garage door that needed adjustment. Besides this, during the inspection he showed me a few tricks about the house- how to turn water & gas on/off, how to adjust sticky door, etc. I actually recorded a lot of the inspection because of how much good info he was kicking out.

I’m a realtor in the area, Josh Stone with Stone Home Inspections is far and away the best I have ever worked with. Check him out on google, Facebook, etc. Most thorough one I’ve met, great at explaining it all to you and doesn’t overcharge. Tell him or his wife Lisa who answers the phone did him that Tony sent you and you’ll be in good hands.
