I'm a member of Broadway Gym, down the road a bit from the shopping centre. It's not too bad, they're open really late, which is good for some. I hear Newtown Gyms prices are good though Broadway will probably match them or beat it if you mention it. There is also Camperdown Gym on Parramatta Road, near Sydney Uni, not sure about that place though.

i go to anytime fitness on george st near wynyard. $60 a month, it's pretty decent. doesn't have any classes, but the equipment is all relatively new and it's usually not overly crowded (unless it's 6 pm).

City Gym is OK, it's on Crown near Stanley St... has a private room upstairs where lighter wights / relaxation comes to mind. Beats UNSW gym which I'm at now:/
