CAS is doing thier job. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If one report or concern is not looked into and something happens they get blamed if they do what they need to till the ssituation is looked into they are damned. There have been some incidents where CAS thought children were safe and it turned out they weren't. From our area there is one that was sent to CHEO hospital as the child was in bad shape. Grandparents down south were careing for thier grand kids and CAS was involved howevrr didn't do thier due diligence and that resulted in a young child dying and based on the info he suffered alot before he passed. So I understand the anger and frustration whwn they get involved but they do and we as parents should educate ourselves about our rights and yes if you are being unjustly accused then fight but also work with the worker without having ur back up. The minute u start pushing them around or being rude they see it as ur back is up. Yes they make mistakes they are human. They have been in and out of my life I opend my door and welcomed them in and got to know them files were always closed and they even recommend us to consider foster parenting. I was 16 when I had my first baby and they nevered bothered me based in my past with them. Parents were alcoholics and I was in foster care. So there are two sides to every story.

I think Rikk is correct about the area you live in. I find the cas offices are not at all consistent. The North Bay office has a lot of problems with improper hiring / unskilled workers and disorganization. This last year alone many people left (or were fired) not sure which is correct. I actually think that sometimes the intentions of that office is good...but it is just such a mess from an operational standpoint that people end up suffering.

Legal Aid or no legal aid? The North Bay CAS has retained most of the best Family lawyers. Are you going to be applying for kinship? I have a lot of experience with the North Bay office as kin

William Sangster was useless in my case. Not involving Childrens aid but custody matter. I don't think he has much respect in the law community . He absolutely did nothing . If your family will be going though legal aid, the choices will be limited . You need to pay the big bucks to win . You see in a corrupt little town of North bay, you need to hire the judges friends lawyers . The higher up you go spending wise the more they work and judges respect them. I believe a retainer will cost 5000 . If you can manage this large amount of money, I would say it's worth it 100 percent . I would remortgage my home if they ever got involved . Once they see you've lawyered up high they tend to drop your case and looks for others to bother. I went through tons of lawyers in that town . Pickings are very Slim. North bay has to be the most corrupt place ever.
