So many to choose from! Rose Point Cafe & Maes Place are good ! But Everyone on this post has put up great ideas, I'm definitely a breakfast person!! And Have tried them all,LOL Everyone has different specialties, Lifes to short, try them all
Where can I get clam chowder and clam cakes to go locally? I was going to go to the Beach Rose Cafe but apparently they close at 3. Does Dave's have them?
Roberta H. replied:
Port Side in Galilee is yummy, or going north on Rt 1 out of Ea Greenwich into Warwick is The Crow's Nest
Never really had a bad clam cake...Chowda' is another matter...But even that is rare...I really wish these places would stop this Friday only crap. No other seafood is restricted like that and its out of date...But it is what it is...I second Iggy's, and or Port Side in Galilee..Just stay away from Aunt Carrie's...Gone way downhill in my opinion..
Anyone have any recommendations for a restaurant in NK that has good seafood??

Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar in East Greenwich

We went to Spain in Narragansett for Father's Day, it was excellent. Also, Celestial Cafe just in Exeter has a very good menu that includes seafood. These are nice "sit down" restaurants. If you want authentic RI clamcakes and chowda, try Iggy's (get food at window and take out or find a picnic table.) Champlain's doesn't have dinner ambience (get food at window and find your own seat) but the food is good and you don't have to tip! Duffy's has crappy service....and I mean really, really bad service. I don't know what it is, not sure if they don't hire enough help or what. Multiple bad experiences there with several years in-between each experience. We finally decided 3 strikes and your out. Will never eat there again.
Amy B. replied:
Oh, PS: Go to the Iggy's website and print coupons before you go. https://www.iggysdoughboys.com/store/shopcontent.asp?type=Coupons

Iggys is much better than Aunt Carries these days. They used to be the best but have really gotten expensive and gone downhill. Portside is the best down that way in my opinion, and the oft overlooked Narragansett Grill. Matunuck Oyster Bar is always good but very crowded this time of year. Expect a long wait at any time...
John W. replied:
O sushi has great fish in NK. Matunuck Oyster Bar has the best oyster stew I ever had, and their fish overall is amazing. Worth the wait to get in. 210 oyster bar is good in Wakefield. Scales and Shells in Newport Jamestown Fish Flo's Clam Shack middletown

Jimmy Port Side in Pt Judith across from the BI Ferry. The best and we'll worth the ride. There is one in Wickford that is very good t. I can't remember the name. Right on the left past the Pharmacy.
Gardener's is very good, but they get top dollar...You do better for your money at Ferry Wharf in Galilee, and its just as fresh...
Joyce C. replied:
Gardners Wharf at the end of Main St. in Wickford
Karen S. replied:
Gardner's Wharf Seafood in Wickford has a great selection
Emily C. replied:
I really like Ocean Catch in Wakefield on Kingstown Road. The fish is uber fresh with lots of choices and staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. My last few experiences at Gardiners were not good in that the fish was not fresh when I got it home.
Foodie and travel friends, need some New Orleans feedback: Looking for an event venue or restaurant that can accommodate a private dinner for 32. Suggestions??

Has anyone tried the new restaurant Back 40 yet in NK? I heard it opened yesterday .
Donna B. replied:
Would be nice if it was family friendly. I mean I love https://www.facebook.com/788212221260199 Effie Filippou's Twisted Pizza but another option would be nice!
The Place in the Village is awesome!!! The owner is fantastic and always generous with donations for school/community events. Socrates and Filippos are also extremely generous with community donations. Pizza in all three places is fantastic!!! Try all three!!
Renee H. replied:
Twisted Pizza in EG will deliver to your area and their pizza is excellent!
John M. replied:
I am off School St, and I go to Pizza Heaven...Just off Frenchtown Rd over the line...The very best, and trust me I have had them all. Also, Four Brothers is very good, as well as The Place in Wickford...Stay away from Bravos, small pizzas that are rip offs, and they aren't wroth all the tout about fresh and local..And, Providence Coal Fired, burnt most of the time and overpriced..Kingston pizza is lousy too...
Shelagh M. replied:
I'm partial to Dave's pizza. I also like 4 Brothers and The Place. Bravo has great locally sourced brick oven pizza too. My husband likes Pier Pizza. My absolute favorite is Pasquale's - Grandma's Pie - in South County Common (and sister restaurants in Westerly -- it is THAT good). All of these places are different and serve pizza that fits different needs and tastes. Try them all until you find your favorite!
Cliff J. replied:
Frank and John's on Main St in EG along with Twisted in EG on main st
Corey M. replied:
I'd give Bravo pizza and Socrates your business(edit– The Place is good too, sometimes they don't answer phone). Really good food, and both not franchises. I've worked for a few pizza places in the town (neither of them) and they definitely are run well.
