I deal with the Super Store on Speers Road, south side just before 3 rd Line going westbound. I have known the Service Manager for about 30 years and they do a great job. They also provide customer drive home and pick up when job is done. When you call them, ask for Manny and tell him that Liz recommended him.

Hello all. I have been thinking of getting a VW Camper Van for a while now, and hoping next spring might finally be the time to bite the bullet. Talk me into it. Talk me...
Jim W. replied:
They are all old now. It will not be like last year's Honda in terms of reliability; it will need constant attention. This is not necessarily bad, just different. It helps to have a mindset that lets you go with the flow. You will likely hear this a lot soon - spend as much as you can on it up front to get the best one you can find. It is not economical to get a cheap one thinking you can fix it as you go. You can (we did), but it will cost you much, much more in the long run. This doesn't just apply to old VW campers btw, it's true for any old vehicle. Now I like to think that each summer we'll be spending a certain amount (not a very predictable amount but think in terms of many hundreds to a few thousand) in order to enjoy camping. As the summers tick by you will become progressively more familiar with maintenance, in parallel with meeting a wonderful new crowd of similarly delusional VW camper owners. You will learn patience. And you will come to enjoy on line shopping for parts. Near you, check out German Supply.
