It is still under warranty. Even if the manufacturer claims otherwise. A normal person would expect a washing machine to last more than 18 months and that's what the ACCC states http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/repair-replace-refund#-no-refund-signs-and-expired-warranties .
