Any indoor (or outdoor for that matter)
climbing gyms in Osaka? Can you go there for a visit or do you have to sign up for classes and stuff? Cost?
Thanks!

This one is great. Halfway between Osaka and Kyoto. Price is about ¥3,000 for a day. (You can take a five/ ten minute crash course and tour) and then start into your own thing... Basically, in Japan at most of the ones I've been to- you make a "membership/ point card" bit there are no monthly fees or anything and you just buy like a day pass.... If you have your own shoes and chalk it's like a ¥300 discount... Also, there is one in Grand Front Shopping Mall in Umeda and there is one in Kawaramachi Kyoto (different company) http://atman-kyoto.com/

If you're also close to Nankai Sakai station, there's Ohama park, they have a gym room. Open from 9:00-21:00. 200 yen per time but first you need to book for instruction session (how to use equipment and such) for 700 yen. The session schedule is on the website. http://www.sakai-espa.com/topics/ohama/chirashi/torekou.htm

There are a few other good bodybuilding gyms too; B&F Gym is my fave. http://park17.wakwak.com/~bf-gym/

David Robertson: They have two olympic lifting platforms, two cages, one squat rack, a full set of olympic barbells and bumper plates, Hammer Strength machines, a sauna and no discrimination.

Have you checked your city's gym? Their usually smaller, but decent enough for a good work out. Usually no contracts, pay per day or month options, and reasonable prices. Depending on what you want to do and if you have space, you can get a pull up bar unit for about 1 man ($100 USD) from Amazon Japan. That's what I went with and you can avoid the cold. http://goo.gl/SusOmY

I think the nicest place to stay is in Horie. It is just west of Shinsaibashi. Amerika Mura is super central. Then you also have the other side, Matsuyamachi which is also nice.
