Has anyone used Dale and Co for snow removal? Were they reliable?
Pam M. replied:
I use stone Edge and they are very reliable. Have had them for 7 years. Because they so many clients here they are prompt and efficient. 613 794 4002.

I use Stone Edge too, and they are excellent!

Thanks for all the feedback. I signed up with Stone Edge.
Kim Y. replied:
Our neighbour uses Stone Edge, and they seem like a great bunch of guys. There are a number of clients on our street, so if there is a big storm they will often clear one side of the street for us so that we are not waiting for the city plow. They hav e also been known to take a bit of extra time to help out when they see a non-client clearing snowplow droppings by shovel. They seem to be thinking about the community, not just the bottom line!
Pam M. replied:
I am very happy with StoneEdge but I did tell a friend of mine that I would mention:appleseedsnow@hotmail.com as she likes them and they are now in our area but I cannot vouch for them. I can however vouch for StoneEdge. I have never had to call them for being late ..never.

Dale & Co are offering to notify clients before they arrive so you can move your car, either by phone or text, which i think is fantastic. I used Stone Edge last year and i often missed them & they would plow around my car. I remember thinking they should have a notification system like Dale has.
Derek R. replied:
Using Stone Edge for 9 years, and they get better every year
Sue S. replied:
We use Stone Edge as well and typically I find they come in the middle of the night. I sure wouldn't want a notification to come through while sleeping.

http://daleandco.ca/ he's fantastic, sends out bulletins before snowfall to let customers know when to expect them & any return trips, plus he does e-mail alerts when he is near your house to give you time to move your vehicle if necessary.

jordanrlast replied:
I used Precision for 2 seasons. They ran into my garage door and my neighbour’s fence. They also received a fine from bylaw for piling snow in my other neighbour’s lane way. After filing a better business bureau complaint, and fighting with them for months, he finally wrote me a cheque for all of the damages. This winter we have been using Sky High. Can’t say enough good things about them. They always come soon after snow fall and they are very careful. We will continue to use them and recommend them to others. We are in lower town btw

If you don't mind doing the work yourself (I quite enjoy it myself actually), buying your own snowblower will pay for itself fairly quickly versus paying for removal. You can do it your own schedule and if we get more than 250 cm in a winter you won't pay insane extra charges. And if you can wait until the end of winter you can probably get a good deal on one.
We just moved in the area, wondering what's the best company for snow removal ( double lane way)

Welcome!!! A lot of people in RS use Stone Edge...plus he supports the RS Community Association! Www.stoneedgeottawa.com

^ I've always cleared my own drive way with my snowblower, but almost all my neighbours use Stone Edge.
Sue S. replied:
We were with Stone Edge for almost 10 years but after their abyssal service last year we will not be using them again and switching to Dale & Co. Both are priced about the same at around $300ish for a double sized driveway. Stone Edge over contracted last year and took on way too many clients to service. Dale & Co puts a cap on the number of clients he will serve so he can deliver a higher degree of being able to count on him to do the job when needed. We got sick and tired of Stone Edge not living up to their contract and fired them. I personally know of at least 10 other friends in the neighbourhood that had the same issues and will be switching, so I'm not the only one. Up until last year I had always recommended them but they completely dropped the ball last year on multiple occasions.
