Hello. I have a question. I have a mare that I bought and she turned out to be pregnant. She's NI and I need to find frozen colostrum for the baby. I've called the...

Call any and all breeding facilities you can find. I can not imagine a breeding facility that would not milk a dripping mare to save colostrum for in the future. Nobody with sense would waste it anyway! Not everybody ends up with an early dripping mare though. I think Mithra Stables in New Lyme used to breed? Robin DaRue on GP Easterly in W. Farmington has a stallion station and she might do some foaling out there. Good luck and do keep us posted because I might think of something/one. We milked our mares at Al-Marah and WN's and froze it for that "just in case" or a mare with insufficient colostrum....

My vet gave me the name of Stallion Services but they aren't returning calls. Someone said they went south for the winter and that is why I haven't heard from them. I keep hunting. I will find it. It's going to be interesting bottle feeding the baby. I am hoping for a warm spell lol
Not sure if that will work. I'm on my phone and you know how the smart phones are so great lol but Tractor Supply sells this. Mana Pro colostrum supplement.

Hunh, I see that stallion services does foal out and mare care...given that many Arab stallions they collect and the effort for foals to be born early it's not exactly vacation time for breeding/foaling sheds right now.;-) I'd probably keep trying, There's an article in their newsletter that might be useful. Sorry if I'm pushy. It's just that this is what I did for living before I got married and had kids. My biggest thing is to NOT interfere with whatever YOUR vet has recommended for you to do......

Jamie, I did call the Ohio State University. Left a message for a professor there who I transferred to. They have a lot on their website so I am hoping they can help. She hasn't called me back. It hasn't quite been 24 hours but I will call her back if I don't hear from here. I was given Stallion Services as a recommendation by my vet to get colusturm from and I've left several messages. The vet did say to use frozen but I did buy powder as a back up because I'm getting closer and still trying to find it. I will find it lol just matter of getting ahold of someone!!!!

April Brown and Jill Chernesky both know a lot about horses.
Once again we are reaching out for the holidays. We are looking for a family truely in need. Maybe a disabled vet that needs a handicap shower? Maybe they just need...
