I've worked for several, Liberty, HR, J/H and directly for Turbo tax, by far if you want to save money go with the do it yourself. We use an enrolled agent and he finds us almost the exact same things as my "estimate" using TT. He costs $125, more depending on the forms you have to file. TT has gotten very user friendly and we had support right up until tax time. Please don't let someone that someone knows do your taxes, there was a very high volume of tax fraud last year and I fielded many calls from people that used "someone a friend" knew. With the local shops, liberty, hr etc. Most take a two-three week course and have access to ALL your personal information etc. It was a revolving door with workers who had thousands of ssn's they could write down in the short time they worked. Just saying, I'll stick with my expensive guy and take chances estimating my return myself to double check his work!!

I used to do my own taxes too on Tax Act and Turbo Tax. But because I have the 3 different situations, work/unemployment and work at home now, and I don't know how to do deductions at all, haven't had any in years, I didn't think that would be the way to go.
