I have been reading a lot about Altra Olympus, which apparently has a huge toe box and a zero drop and is cushioned like the hoka one. Have read such good things I am going to try it for my Mortons neuroma.

I bought New Balance as well. If you know the brand and style you want you can Google to find the best price. Might mean visiting a full price store first to choose your style/size.

Head out from the Cathedral Square under bridge. Walk straight down Calle de Madrid and Base sports store will be on your left hand side. Prices were so good I think it may be an outlet store. I purchased several Camino Buffs for 9 euro. On my receipt the stores name is: DEPORTES MANZANEDO
Can't decide between hiking boots or shoes. Any recommendations?
Annie C. replied:
I've worn New Balance trail runners the past 10 Caminos. Perfect in all seasons. The Camino is a long walk, not a mountain climb like the PCT I see a lot of discarded boots. Wear what makes your feet happy. But boots are not necessary unless you have weak ankles or are already a boot person.

As I've shared a bunch, I'm a diehard Keen guy. Big, chunky waterproof kind for The Way and light CNX version apres' walking. But, my Camino was in July. Hot weather, in my opinion, demands tough and breathable. Cold weather would seem to be great boot weather. To each his or her own, as I'm sure that this thread will provide. Buen Camino.
Hi all. Any recommendations for shoes for women with wide feet n need a lot of support? Not just for the toes, but also wide where the arch is. I'm a nurse by trade and...
Karen F. replied:
Oboz... wider toe box than Keens with much more padding and cushioning. I have Oboz Sawtooth... comes both waterproof and not. Walked two Caminos in Spain(CF), and wish I had found these before walking. I leave Monday to walk The Way of St Francis. Italy and thrilled to be bringing my Oboz!
Janis A. replied:
Basque makes a wide shoe so is a good place to start. Keen is just made wider. Men's shoes might work but sometimes the arch support hits in the wrong place. REI shoe sales people should be able to provide guidance. Buen Camino.
Women pilgrims: do you have any recommendations for NARROW trail or hiking shoes? I'm reading about blisters and am really worried about getting shoes that fit. ...

El Corte Ingles is a department store chain that carries some excellent trekking and walking items. There is a store just off Puerta del Sol in Madrid (among other locations). There is a metro stop there and it is a great area to hang out if you have time. - Ginn
