Paul Ries is correct. Catalina used to be an option for postdocs, and I looked into using it for our CPA socials. Unfortunately, they now only allow residents to reserve the space, so it is only an option if you have someone in the group who lives there.

Mine is a great regional provider, Midcontinent Communications . They were rated fastest in the US by PC Magazine last year. They are really fast to respond to any issues, and have a couple of times done across the board speed increases. My service is now up to 200 mbps. They have sent people out on Sundays and holidays is issues popped up. Issues are few, but I can't ask for a better response when they do come up.

Ron, Time Warner recently upgraded in South Pasadena, raising our download speed to 107 Mbps. Alhambra and Pasadena are both adjacent, so it could be the same for you. We've been using this ISP since it was Earthlink -- 15-20 years, I'd guess -- and, despite Time Warner's sketchy reputation, problems have been very rare.
