We booked our first trip to Bali through Flight Centre, flights, insurance and accommodation in Jayakarta Resort, Legian. Had an apartment at the resort, right on beach, large walled grounds and shops just outside the gates. While I wouldn't book through them again as know more now, as a first time visit I have no regrets doing it that way. Took a lot of worry and concerns away from me so I could enjoy the holiday.

I allways stay at the baleka hotel legian its a great location staff are amazing go onto bookings.com punch in the dates of travel it will come up with heaps of cheap deals you just pay for One night on your card pay the rest when you get there

Garrison's or puketoki.com both are Aussie owned at Jayakarta in Legian. We loved the day over at Lembognan on Bali Hai.

Just ask for a driver when you get there... Kutatowns houses for us... Sometimes cheaper when you book though hotels.com or bookings.com

I have used Booking.com and good deals and all the hotels in one site and reviews check it out pick out 1 or 2 helps narrow it down a little

The Pavillion Hotel in Kuta is really cheap, and a great location near bemo corner. It has new rooms, but pool is very small and no restaurant. I know you said Legian but just another option. I stayed here with my kids and cost me $70 pn for two rooms.
