Hi just wanna ask about chinese school in KL/PJ... which chinese school do you send them to? anyone familiar with SRJK(C) La Salle (just moved to Kuchai Lama) , SRJK(C)...
Ron L. replied:
Jasmin Choy may be right.... i send all my three kids to primary kebangsaan schools, then moved them to established and top performing missionary secondary schools.
Jasmin C. replied:
Not all schools. Puay Chai SS2 Primary 1 has 30 students per class. I can't confirm but apparently it's roughly the same for Kuen Cheng.
Ron L. replied:
Sharon Lim yes i agree as i have help a student that studied in Chung Kwok. I just felt it is so crazy system but what to do? we still have so many kiasu parents.....
Ron L. replied:
Tricia Tan on the issue of streaming.... ok we have two groups here.... those with kids who are smart will be dishearten while those who have weak kids will be rejoice..... in one school, one parent even transfer her son to another school because of this..... truly the kiasu mum..... i heard next, she again was not happy with that school.... now finally, she transfer her son to a kiasu country, our southern neighbour.... lol
Michelle W. replied:
It is, so I won't go that route. Even the parents themselves are "weird" The family that runs the canteen is my friend's sister in law. I heard the parents actually want to deduct lunch money from the canteen if their kids were held up in class by teacher and didn't go for their lunch. Or as kids are ( they forget to eat when they play ) the canteen people get scolded for now going to call the kids for food. Can you imagine going round hunting these kids down for food EVERY single day? and its a huge school
Ron L. replied:
Tricia Tan yes, some want to take risk as they are not sure. i was luckier as i was a home tuition teacher before i got married..... and continue on for few years after i got married. from those years of experience, i have a whole list of reasons why i do not want my kids in chinese schools..... but i also tell people it is for others to decide as this is my personal reason and decision.....
Ron L. replied:
Tricia Tan "mummy is also happy - no need to drive"... yes that is another reason why the road is so much clearer.... lol
Ron L. replied:
and Tricia Tan yes it is in us (the Human Being) of doing things last minute...... so we try to beat that, but last minute tends to produce better result....lol..... and i say human problem n not a Malaysian thing because it happens every where..... in europe there is one website called, lastminute.com to help people to do their last minute work or once i watch david letterman show and i remember he was joking that the attendance today is low. maybe because everyone is rushing to submit their tax at the last minute...hahaha
Ron L. replied:
my statement may going to frighten you. being in what i am doing in my profession, we did a studies on children's behaviour. the findings.... primary schools that focus very much on HOMEWORK will make many kids (especially those who do not like homework) hates studying. They felt that schools is so stressful. 2ndly, many of these schools are also very competitive. just dropping ONE MARK may change your positioning drasticly. Finallly if these kids come from chinese speaking family, the struggle continues when they go to secondary school as they could not cope with BM n English as the std of BM n English in chinese schools are lower. Even the UPSR BM n English, there are two types. One is SK UPSR Paper while the other is SJK UPSR Paper..... and the latter is much lower standard.. When they continue to struggle in secondary school which by then too, they will be going through biological change in their body or hormonal change, they may be very lost or confuse.... Studies shown that this is one of the main reason why students play truant. OK, one final info..... my three nieces studying in La Salle which earlier in Bfields. The number of students then is very pathetic, only one class with about 20 students per level..... So, it is not stressful. In fact all my three nieces are pretty popular..... all of them were school captain. and furthermore my three nieces have no problem in all the three languages, and my sister ensure they are active in extra curricular activities. But now i heard there ae 6 classes for each level at the new place. so how is it now, I have no idea.....

Cons: You need to drive to town 10 km for the attractions e.g. 3D museum, etc 2. Cititel Hotel@George Town Pros: Walking distance to food and in the middle of town. Cons: No beach. Could be RM350 - RM400 range. I hope it helps. Cheers.
