Ok, family coming, need some help plannin the trip:
Pnom Penh: what to do? Anyone been to the royal palace or museums? Worth going? How do we get to the killing fields?...

The national museum is very interesting if you like museums--the royal palace less so but okay if you have time. To understand the Khmer Rouge period you should definitely go to Toul Sleng and Choeung Ek outside PP--I rented a tuk for $15 a day to do both. I think Kep and Sihanoukville are both great seaside spots. Obviously acouple days at Angkor. The bamboo train outside Battambang is a hoot. The floating village Kompong Luong near Krakor is a modestly priced boat trip but a little difficult to get to.
