SPCA Clinics are meant to assist those pet owners who do not have the means to pay private vet fees. Taking advantage of those services means that those really in need may not get the veterinary assistance they urgently need.

I really hate Pmb SPCA. Took my puppy to find out what is wrong in the middle of the dam month when no one has money. they wanted R300 deposit before they could help my puppy (which in total would've cost me +/- R800 at the end). So had to put him out by injection which still cost me R300 but i can pay it off. Horrible service from them. Would rather take my pets to a private vet when i get one again as this was my childrens puppy and they were so sad about him not being there when they got back from the creche.

Morning, I have taken my dog to the vet SPCA and was told that he needs a catarac operation on his one eye, is there maybe a vet on this site that will assist Bona Fide...
Estee A. replied:
Theres only one vet in Pmb that might be able to assist you thats Dr Andrew McKenzie at Veterinary House Hospital. He's very good with eyes. The equipment used is quite expensive, so the pro-bono part I won't be able to comment about. Generally dogs with cataracts do very very well even if theyre not operated on, dogs rely quite a bit on hearing and smell to get around. If you dont move things around too much in the house she should be fine!
Judi M. replied:
Do you know what the vet at Clarendon Vet Clinic may be just the person to speak to. He helped a friend of mine
Caryn S. replied:
I agree with Faye McQueen. Try Dr Mkenzie at Vet House in Prince Alfred Street.
Good morning.sorry if this post is not business related.is there anyone in this group that has a good knowledge of dogs and their health?can only get to vet on monday...
Estee A. replied:
Has your doggy been vaccinated? Parvovirus is a possibility if she is younger than a year. If she is still eating it is a good sign... then maybe something just upset her stomach. Deworming her, starting her on something like probiflora might help. If the poo is really runny you can go buy Pectrolyte at the chemist. But please look out for loss of appetite or vomiting. Have a nice day! Dr Estee@Chase Valley Vet
