Can anyone recommend a vet in the Wilkes Barre to Scranton area? Poor Sweet Elby is on heart medication and Dr Fine in Larksville is giving me a hard time. I was tempted...
Vets don't have the buying power of larger pharmacies, which is also why they cost more. I go to Costco, and if Costco doesn't carry it, I go to Harris Teeter or Target. Whichever one has a $25.00 gift card for a new prescription.

Dr. Ayers, Plains Animal Hospital. We've had other vets there. They are thorough, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Worth paying a little more.

We love Dr. Ruben at the west side veterinary hospital....

I go to plains animal hospital on river st. They r behind the emergency clinic. They are wonderful there. I use Dr Ambrose. I have had alot of issues with my fur balls - eating Easter lily and now a diabetic cat. I highly recommend them.
Sarah R. replied:
Yes they will. They gave me one for heart guard and then I shopped around online for the cheapest place which was petfooddirect.com

My cousin uses Back Mountain Vet for normal care, but says they will bring in outside vets for complex issues and the price really goes up. Her mom uses Plains Animal Hospital - has for years, and loves them.
Deanne C. replied:
Plains Animal hospital is where I go with my dog.
Jennifer W. replied:
I second Dr Paws. I miss her every time I go to my vet here. Also, seriously, don't fill mess at the vet. Most are 1/2 the cost at a pharmacy.
Matthew G. replied:
Dr Stephenson's group is fantastic and budget friendly.

Dr Paws in Scranton - I believe on n. 7 th. Dr Wendy is very down to earth and very compassionate- can't think of anyone better.
Edward D. replied:
Dr Ayers in Plains PA. He is great and also very caring.
Leigh W. replied:
We use Plains Animal Hospital. They're expensive, but good.
Steven G. replied:
Dr Spiece and her associate at mountain top animal hospital are fantastic.
Greg K. replied:
I took all my animals to the vet on Wyoming Avenue in Kingston. Dr Kauffer is one of those vets who likes animals more than he likes people, but he was always accommodating and reasonably priced.
Edward D. replied:
Plains Animal Hospital/Dr. Ayers will give you an RX if they don't carry it. But for "moral" reasons will not give you and RX if you use Petmeds. He hates Petmeds.
