Baker Ford to Gilbert is a great one day float that usually has water year around. Tyler Bend is a nice campground with some hiking trails near by that the has a few over looks on them. And Buffalo River Outfitters has cabin rentals and canoe rentals as well their number is 8704392244 there staff is great and would be more than happy to help you out.
Mark W. replied:
Depends on rain, of course, but Buffalo Point is probably the only part of the river where you will be able to float in July, and it is a very nice campground. I recommend area D, and the restaurant at the top of the hill, down past the cabins. Float? Spring Creek put-into Buffalo Point, and/or Buffalo Point to Rush. Service? Buffalo River Float Service.

No Park Service camprounds on the upper river have showers. The Park Service usually shuts the water off at their campgrounds around October 15 th, but can vary depending on weather. There is also a new campground at Compton, JB Trading. It has showers along with Lost Valley Canoe & Dogwood Springs.

Stay in Clarksville, my home. Read your maps....make the big loop up the mountain to Wolf Pen to Turner's Bend to Ozark. Eat at River Towne and Shipley's. Go back to Clarksville on 64 and tour Mt. St. Mary's for a day trip. You'll get to see beauty and get to make scenic stops that won't be too tiring. Take my advice. I am The Queen!

Every campground along the river has its good points. From small campgrounds without much in the way of facilities on some of the best stretches of river as far as scenery goes to the big ones like Buffalo Point that have sites with water and electricity. And yes Buffalo Point has some beautiful cliffs too. You can't go wrong anywhere along the Buffalo. We've used Buffalo Point a lot because we were working on our land and cabin and wanted shower facilities and electricity in the hot summer. We also love Kyles Landing on the upper section. In nice weather they both fill up.

Tyler Bend is hard to beat this time of year.
Dolores N. replied:
Ozark Campground has flush toilets and possibly showers . Best thing is the nearness to all scenic upper river areas as well as a full time camp host to keep an eye out on your campsite. You can explore Steel Creek, Ponca, Lost Valley, Boxley Valley, Hawksbill Crag, etc. Plus run into Jasper or the Low Gap Cafe for "eating out", etc. NPS website good source for updates on campsite amenities, as they are good at closing down some services due to " budget cuts "!!
Buffalo River Canoes at the top of Kyle's landing road may have a trail map, not sure tho.
Todd P. replied:
Twin Falls is there. It's very short.
Kevin M. replied:
The Buffalo River Trail goes up above Camp Orr and the Old River Trail kind of goes right through the middle of it. You can make a couple of different loops by using those trails. Not sure how short you mean, but with a bit of bushwacking you can do some fairly short ones. You can make several nice short loops to Twin/Triple Falls with the BRT & the road.

Tyler Bend or Grinders Ferry to Hwy 14 is a good overnight float... It's hard to say what water conditions will be like in a couple of weeks but I'd imagine the middle section will be just fine. You may drag the shoals, but I doubt you'll have to walk much at all.
