Local friends - Can anyone recommend a good laser eye surgery doctor? After giving this much thought, I've finally decided to have this done. Sick of wearing glasses. ...

This is the guy (Dr Caro) who did mine and my husband, Brother in law and friend. He also did a guy named Brian Urlacher....... I Thought if the Bears would trust him, I"d give him a try too!!! Good luck. Have to find someone you are comfortable with . http://www.eyelaser-center.com/
Rod G. replied:
Dr. David Gross...did mine 10 years ago.
Alan R. replied:
On that note we had quiche at Thanksgiving, and my sister, Karen Radu Gambril actually told me what it is! Egg stuff.....Not bad either...not bad...
Melissa R. replied:
also know that it only lasts about 10 yrs then you have to redo it. most eye dr I know won't have it done-even if they are the ones doing it. 2 Dr that I've worked with are Dr Corey in Portage-he would be my 1 st choice-I know he does cataracts and believe he does lasiks. the other is Dr Buck in Valpo.
Melissa R. replied:
Oh yea and Jeff's friend Tim McCarthy in Oakbrook-although he also wear glasses and says he would never do it because his eyes are his livelihood.
Susan C. replied:
Alan... I had mine done 7 years ago and best thing I ever did. I do not need cheaters for reading yet but will one day and that's inevitable. Would have needed those even if I didn't have the surgery. My sis is an eye dr and she used to work for Eldi Deschamps eye care up there before she moved to Indy. Right off Broadway across from Methodist hospital. Great place...good reputation. It's worth it!!!
Kenny H. replied:
Well I did it 14 years ago and now I need glasses to see near and far. But 12 years were great. If I could do it again I will recommend Dean Gross in Merrillville.
Does anyone know of a good skin doctor in Porter County???

Adam B. replied:
We have a couple of people in Chicago. People I know have been asking for referrals to get as far away from Dr. Applegarth as they can.
Melissa K. replied:
Love Dr Desai also and Dr Shurillo (not sure on the spelling, but she is with him). I just had a minor surgery in their office last week and have had a few moles removed and they are wonderful!
Does anyone know a good doctor that you can actually get into? Preferably a neurologist without their head up their ass?
Danie B. replied:
Actually, up by you guys there's Dr. Filipowicz - http://www.iuhealth.net/portal/IUH/findadoctor?paf_gear_id=6900001&paf_dm=full&task_name=displayBio&contactId=83151 - He and a neurosurgical team in Bloomington are my only in-network choices, and the Bloomington docs can't help me, but Dr. F supposedly has experience with Chiari.
Danie B. replied:
From what I've been reading that's pretty common, which is why I haven't had the surgery yet. I haven't found any doctor who has convinced me that they really know what is going on, and have spent more than 5 seconds looking at the piles of medical history I have brought in. I have an appointment with Dr. Rosner next month, and I'll see if he's as amazing as everyone says. I just KNOW that this isn't as routine or passe as all the doctors I've seen so far have made it out to be. Life isn't great, but with acupuncture it's manageable, so I'm still fighting for a doctor I trust.
Can anyone recommend a good Ear Nose and throat doctor in Portage or Valparaiso... someone good with kids.

Joyce H. replied:
I like Dr Han, we didn't like Keenan. Dr Han is very nice and we haven't had any problems with Emily since the surgery
Jessica E. replied:

Kelly H. replied:
I don't know if you remember my friend Melissa Jennings but she is an audiologist at Community Hospital. I could ask her who she likes. She as two kids herself and I believe that one of them as been to see an ENT. Let me know
Camden P. replied:
Dr Turk put tubes in Tristins ears and helped Ashlee get through her chronic ear infections without tubes. I'd trust him with my kids any day .
Cortney E. replied:
Dr. Keenan is gone from this area I think. We saw Han for Avery then Reagan saw Keenan and we had the WORST experience with Keenan so when Reagan needed her 2 nd set if tubes we went back to Han. Keenan did tubes and took out her adenoids and tonsils. I have heard good things about Turk though.
Kerry C. replied:
Dr Keenan was great with kolton.
Melissa N. replied:
Bradley went to Dr. Turk and we loved him!!!!
Candy K. replied:
Dr. Turk is the best
Melissa K. replied:
Dr. Keenan, he took out Alec's tonsils when he was 2. He is wonderful, caring, & kind.
Jess U. replied:
Dr. Turk did Baileigh's first 4 sets of tubes. He is a good No Nonsense kinda Dr. He also took out Baileigh's adenoids the first time. He is still Tallon's ENT, the only reason I took Baileigh to Chicago was because it was her 5 th set and I felt I needed a second opinion. The Chicago Dr. agreed with Turk. I am satisfied with him!!
