We have been to Imperial Hotel, really good. This year we are going to the Portobello Royal, Kos. Any Atlantica Hotel will be the same high standard.

Atlantica Imperial Hotel in Rhodes is fantastic have been there for many years. We love it like we love Atlantica Bay.
Can anyone recommend a good hotel or B+B within walking distance of the Old Port? It seems like a lot of options are father out and would require driving there.

[The Hilton Harbor Inn](http://hiltongardeninn.com) is probably the best location. And it is in *no* way in the East End as someone else posted. Not only is it in the heart of the Old Port, it's also located next to arguably the best restaurant in Portland ([Fore Street](http://www.forestreet.biz)) and arguably the best bakery in Portland ([Standard Baking](https://plus.google.com/107784379778345954243/about?gl=us&hl=en)).
Edit:
If you prefer B&B, there's a lot to choose from but they don't advertise themselves very well. Upscale is [The Danforth](http://www.danforthmaine.com/inn/inn.html), in the West End. Also home to [Carmen at the Danforth](http://www.danforthmaine.com/restaurant/), in my personal opinion the best restaurant in Portland right now. There's also a B&B on [Spring Street](http://www.innatparkspring.com/), and [at least another couple](https://maps.google.com/maps?q=bed+breakfast+portland+maine) in the West End alone.

* [Portland Harbor Hotel](http://www.portlandharborhotel.com/) is on the West end.
* [Portland Regency Hotel & Spa](http://www.theregency.com/) is smack dab in the middle.
* [Hilton Garden Inn Portland Downtown Waterfront](http://hiltongardeninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels/maine/hilton-garden-inn-portland-downtown-waterfront-PWMDHGI/index.html) Is on the East end.
The Harbor and Hilton both have frontage on Fore and Commercial streets and the Regency has frontage on Fore, Market, and Silver streets.
I don't have any experience with any of them, but I can honestly say that my personal choice would be the Harbor. It is within very easy walking distance of all of Portland's in-town Amenities. It may be a little loud outside of it on weekend nights though, but I am assuming that if you are going to the Old Port you might be looking for a party in the first place.
Good Luck!!

I go to Portland a few times a year and stay at the Residence Inn at 145 Fore Street. It's not too out of the way and you can get a waterview.

My parents stay at the Hampton Inn when they visit. They love it. It's brand new and extremely nice.
