Any recommendations on a dog trainer in Portland? My mini Bull Terrier plays a little too rough and is food aggressive. I'm curious if anyone has had success and/or...

I took my German Shepard/collie mix to Leader of the Pack. The guy who runs is amazing with aggression issues. It was all pretty reasonable too. Good luck!

>food aggressive * [Food Guarding](http://www.aspca.org/Pet-care/virtual-pet-behaviorist/dog-articles/food-guarding) has a pretty good treatment plan to help fix / prevent resource guarding against people. * [Resource Guarding: Treatment and Prevention](http://www.patriciamcconnell.com/theotherendoftheleash/resource-guarding-treatment-and-prevention) also has a lot of good information. * /r/Dogtraining/wiki/guarding Edited to add some trainer evaluating links: * /r/dogtraining/wiki/findingatrainer * [Finding Professional Help](http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/virtual-pet-behaviorist/finding-professional-help) * [How to Choose a Dog Trainer](http://www.apdt.com/petowners/choose/default.aspx) and come check out /r/DogTraining if you haven't already!

Carrie Lyons is a great dog trainer who only uses positive reinforcement (not punishment). She's in the Portland area. I'm on mobile right now so I can't find the link but she's definitely worth googling. She helped with my leash reactive dog and her rates are reasonable. She does in-home training. I highly recommend her.

[Smart Paws Academy](http://www.smartpawsacademy.com) is wonderful. Cheryl Huffman really knows how to handle any dog problem, and she has over 30 years experience in dog training. It's out in Oregon City, but the prices for classes are very reasonable. We have had a great time training our dog with her.

They're a bit outside of Portland, but we were very happy with Canine Classroom. http://www.canineclassroom.com We have a rescued pit bull, and he helped us work through a lot of issues to the point that she's a model dog now.

Carol Andrew of CJ's dog training in Vancouver, WA. She is the best. Saved our bacon. She has thirty years of experience. She is the real deal. I wonder about people who claim to be a 'behaviorist'. In reality this takes many years of continued education. I know Chris Pachel is a real behaviorist, and comes highly recommended.
