We have a rather large flat. I expect we need a condensing combi-boiler plus a HW tank to serve both hot water and winter heating. Plus our radiators tend to 'sing' (rather out of tune) so the system needs to be flushed of old crusty build up. do not get a portable air conditioner as they literally take an entire day to slightly cool one room. And yes, you do need air conditioning if you live under the roof so ignore the nonsense you will hear about "its only hot one week per summer so just deal with it". Hi Trevor Marshall, as Paja Mikez writes, the Czech government has declared all-out war on Solar Energy. Our company, Photon Energy, is a photovoltaic power provider. But at the moment you should really calculate your ROI, because without government subsidies the only really sound solution is self-consumption for off-grid projects. But even then the state will charge you, as a punishment for not buying electricity from CEZ. Solar thermal is another story though (but we don't do that). As Ondrej said. find out when the NT (low tariff) should be on, then at that time go look at the meters and look which numbers are moving. there is one nr for VT and one for NT. when your HDO turns on the NT tariff, then only numbers for NT should be moving, all electricity usage during that time is "cheap" if that is wrong, you can contact CEZ service to come check it (I would suggest you have a czech speaker there as well) Our case was that it turned out that somebody some time ago in our flat probably wanted hot water outside the "low" tariff time and connected the water heater cable directly to the network without putting it via the HDO switch. so it was just heating every time it got cold..
