I was hoping to get some feed back about any pet rescues in the area. I found a cat in a carrier that was left on a sidewalk near my work and I'm pretty sure...
Vicki T. replied:
Rude Ranch animal rescue is a no kill rescue, they are in Hardwood, MD..410-798-9559(rescue #) Their clinic is 443-607-6496, will reopen on Jan.7. They are the best, esp. with cats...pls call them, you probably have to leave a message, but they are good at returning calls
Wendy S. replied:
Calvert Animal Welfare League in PF. They will not put the kitty down. Very nice rescue facility. I got my 3 kitties there.
Penny C. replied:
There is a place across from Calvert bowling alley!! They are the best Calvert Well Pet Clinic
Lea R. replied:
I emailed CAWL, and will call Rude Ranch and SPOT in the morning. I checked Friends of Felines but I'm not sure about them only because they mention releasing them and she has been declawed so she will definitely have to remain a pet. Thank you everyone for your input

Please post: Can anyone recommend a very affordable vet in Calvert County? My Shepard has reoccurring ear infections. We always go to Solomon's...
Rhonda T. replied:
I also recommend Dr. Brown at Calvert Animal Hospital off Skinner's Turn Rd. And Rt. 4, headed towards Dunkirk. He's an older guy, and we've always had a good rapport with him.

Dr . Brown@Calvert Animal Hospital
Lisa E. replied:
For 4 years our lab battled with ear infections and we used a local vet with no success and our poor pup went through so much. Then we met Dr. Stotler at Calvert Animal Hospital and he identified the problems, started treatment and our dog is in the best shape of his life. And unlike other places it did not cost a crazy amount and my dog loves Dr. Stotler.
Jenna P. replied:
We love Chesapeake Animal Clinic in Owings. They will tell you every option possible and very informative.

Peppers Pantry can do a wonderful job guiding you in nutrition to help, and Calvert Well Pet Clinic is wonderful, too! The food seems expensive, but we credit our dogs' long, healthy lives to the food, and there are deals where if you buy 10, 12 bags, etc. you get one free. Also they have customer rewards.
Dana C. replied:
Calvert Animal Hospital. Great prices and Dr Stotler is the best!!! He's the only one I will see at CAH, though I like Dr. Lindle too:-)
Sharon P. replied:
Dr. Brown. My maltese used to get ear infections, but I was told by vet to put a capful of alcohol in her ears every week for a month and then switch to every two-three weeks. It worked for her.
Robin P. replied:
We used Calvert Animal Hospital as well. Also try grain-free dog food. It's more expensive but has greatly reduced our lab's ear infections. You can also find a recipe online for a liquid you can use to clean the dog's ears.

Another for Doc Brown at Calvert Animal Hospital.
Dana C. replied:
I've used both Dunkirk Animal Hospital (DAH) and Calvert Animal Hospital (CAH). I find DAH more timely/less wait and CAH to be cheaper but you can wait a long time in the waiting room. I love both vets. CAH has some new vets who are great, particularly Dr. Stottler. But DAH has my favorite vet of all time, Dr. Goehle. Ultimately,we went with CAH for price (and it's MUCH easier to get to than DAH as you have to make a U-turn on Route 4 to get to DAH from where I live). I've also used Prince Frederick Animal Hospital and liked them (that's where TCAS sent my kittens) but they are very far away from my house.

I have an all white American bulldog who is basically allergic to himself and everything... Prince Frederick animal hospital was the ONLY place that made him better. They have truly been a godsend bc my dog was miserable. I had taken him to Doc Brown for years but they just couldn't seem to help. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or just need to talk about it. I know how stressful it can be.
Jasmina M. replied:
Dr Brown.
Rebecca D. replied:
I second Dr. Jeffers. You can try a general practitioner first to see if its something easy, but if it turns out its not then go see Jeffers. It will be more expensive but you won't play around for years trying to fix it. I've been a veterinary technician for almost 15 years and worked in specialty medicine. Dr. Jeffers is the most highly recommended allergy specialist in the area.
Donna H. replied:
Dr Brown at Calvert retired, but I like Dr Stotler, also Calvert Animal hospital, he's been great with my bulldog.

Have you had your dog tested by a dermatologist? Mine is allergic to grasses, trees and cotton and we went to AADC in Gaithersburg for allergy testing. I give her injections and it has made a world of difference in her. As for a vet in Calvert, I love Chesapeake Animal Clinic.
