So we're planning a wedding... My fiance and i are planning a wedding, and we're looking at venues for the reception. Our primary choice right now is the Shrine Club...

Have you picked up a copy of Southern Bride & Groom? It's free and published locally. It helped us a lot.

Try 1705 Prime. It has a nice outdoor setting for ceremonies, a lounge area for a cocktail hour, and a seating area for receptions for upwards of 120 people. Catering service is also included, since the place used to be a restaurant. They can hook you up with other vendors who handle things like centerpieces, cutlery, and linens, too. Their prices vary of course, but I found them very reasonable compared to other local venues.

I'm planning a wedding too and these are the vendors we selected due to reasonable prices and overall experience: - MEWS Designs for flowers (she will work with your budget and has great ideas for DIY projects) - Patrick Cooke with PC Productions for DJ (great guy...really seems to love what he does and is very helpful) - Wake Forest Portraits for photography (Paul is a blast to work with...we just had out engagement pictures taken and they're amazing) - Edible Art for cake (best cake I've ever had...absolutely delicious!) Good luck with the planning process!

I used to work for Green Planet Catering when they needed extra waitstaff. They're all really good people and all of the food I did get to try was so freaking good. I always said that if I was still around the triangle if/when I got married they would be my first call. http://www.greenplanetcatering.com/

I cannot recommend Heather Singleton from Custom Cakes enough. She did our wedding cake and it was gorgeous. More importantly, it was affordable and SO tasty. Our 1 year anniversary is coming up and she does a free 1 year cake (so you don't need to freeze anything). I'm getting excited to eat it. :D http://www.custompartydelights.com/ We got married in downtown Raleigh but unfortunately, due to price most of my vendors came from Charlotte. Still, I hope you look into Heather, she did such a great job and was so sweet to work with.

I don't know how you feel about vineyard weddings but I heard about this a while back and it sounds like it could be right up your alley. Plenty of space for guests and tons of venues to choose from. Check out www.weddingsbythevine.com

A little late to the game, but I've been playing classical guitar for weddings for years now if you're looking for a ceremony/cocktail hour musician.

The Page-Walker House in Cary is perfect for a (really) small wedding. Rental includes the use of the attached gardens. It's right around $100 an hour on weekends.

My brother got married in the Campbell Lodge at Durant Nature Preserve for, I believe, a very reasonable price. It's a bit far up Capital but that may be convenient for out of towns guests. A lovely venue for not a ton of money! Tables, chairs, and kitchen use included in rental.

Cafe Luna supplied the best wedding food I've ever had. All the Right Grooves has DJ'ed several weddings I've been to plus mine, and they were awesome.

I do save the dates, wedding invitations, signage, menus, reception decor, basically anything paper. I owned an Etsy shop last year and sold over 500 items in the 4 months it was open but closed it down when I moved here and got a full time job. If you would like to see some examples of my previous work let me know and I can email you!

Wake Forest Power Hour would love to have everyone visit. I have personally invited Ginger and don't want to hi-jack her thread; but our group had passed over $167,000 in referrals since late October! We meet on Thursday mornings at the Wake Forest Coffee Company. Come visit us and see what we are about!
Can anyone recommend a DJ for November 19 from 5pm- 10pm for a company party at the Mill Room? My first choice fell through.
