Mom and Pop Nurseries/General Stores Are there any recommended mom and pop nurseries or general stores in the area?
I'm looking for a place that has tomato seedlings,...

A larger local store, but Logan's Trading Co. in Raleigh off Peace St. has a huge selection of different tomato seedlings suited for this area (I think they grow them themselves) and I think they should be going on sale right about now too. EDIT: Also try Stone Brothers in Durham, haven't checked out their tomato selection this year but they're run by some great people and usually have a decent selection of plants and gardening stuff.

Have you seen Barnes Supply Store in Durham, they gave a good seed selection last I checked and stuff for working gardens/flower beds.

[Garden Supply Company](http://gardensupplyco.com/about/) in Cary was founded by a local couple. They have a nice selection of "exotic" plants, excellent service, but their seedlings are expensive. I also recommend the State Farmer's market; this is the best value in the area. Many of the vendors say that if you can't get it to grow, they will give you a replacement plant. Logan's Trading Co. is also great, but extremely crowded, especially on the weekends.

Worth mention that the area is home to one of the finest nurseries in the world- [Plant Delights.](http://www.plantdelights.com/) I don't really recommend them to the casual gardener, they find and develop new varieties, most of which prove to be less resilient than the time tested ones found at mainstream garden centers. They're also expensive. But don't miss an opportunity to do their open house tour, the place is as cool as Duke Gardens or the arboretum.

Maybe Burke Brothers hardware in SW Raleigh. I can't remember if they have gardening stuff, but it wouldn't surprise me. They have everything else.

Dale's Greenhouse & Garden Center reopened in Sanford this spring. Right on US1 south, so not too inconvenient if you are coming from Raleigh. I don't know if he has tomatoes specifically though.

Check on Farm and Garden Center in Hillsborough! It has a garden center with seedlings and is also a great general store with lots of local products. They have a Facebook page.
