I had the same problem with my 6S a few months ago. Turns out that the charging port was filled with lint and dirt. Turn the phone off and use a toothpick to clean the crud out of the charging port. Worked great after that.

I used to run my own iPhone repair business in college but have mostly stopped since I got a job. You most likely have a build up of lint/dirt stuck in the charging port. Take a wooden tooth pick or back of an earring (something small and thin that isn’t sharp) and try to clean out the lint.

If your device is still under warranty, I would suggest search for an Apple Authorized Service Provider. That way any repairs don’t void your warranty. You can search a list of local service providers from support.apple.com/iphone
