Soldering NPT Has anyone had success soldering thread stainless steel NPT ferrules? I'm looking for an alternative to plumbers tape and thread lock.

Assuming you don't ever plan to remove them, use silver solder/brazing rod with a decent percentage of silver in it. Sta-Silv from Harris is good. The flux too. I've silver brazed stainless to copper, stainless to stainless, etc. Honestly, though if you're going to braze it, why even bother with threads? Silver braze the ferrule directly. If this is going on a kettle, brewhardware makes a curved braze-on fitting in stainless. You can also silver braze a sanitary ferrule directly on the wall of the kettle.

Silver soldering is totally doable. Review the videos by@BobbyFromNJ on YouTube on silver soldering pull through and non-pull-through (radiused) fittings. Consider buying the fittings and silver solder from him at brewhardware.com.

By soldering do you mean brazing? Should be possible.

What are you trying to solder them to? I was able to solder/braze stainless couplings onto old kegs with relative ease.

Too many holes in the thread for things to live in once welded for me. If you want welded fittings best to speak with a fitter/turner/welder and get things done with flanges, etc...
