I do Event Planning for a living and Ponderosa Ridge is incredible and easy to work with. Not paid to say that or any of this. Also TBS in Bella Vista is good. 80% of my Weddings are happening at ranches now. Downside is drinking and driving all that distance. Some rent buses to get guests back to town. Closer to Redding and taxis, The Elks Lodge is great as is Senior Citizens. Jean Beaudet Center in Shasta Lake is affordable and kind of a secret not many know of. Congrats on the occasion.

Yes, Sky took over the old Yak's and kept the decor, which is great! Some wonderful found object art. One of the partners and chef took ill a while back, which is very unfortunate in many ways. They're hanging in there without him, but I will say that he is an incredibly charming, friendly guy who really livened up the atmosphere, and he is an incredible chef. So, it's not quite the same without him, sad to say, but I always like to support them. They have a terrific menu and this killer whipped garlic dip. It does have a bit more of a casual feel - you order at the counter unless they're slow, etc. The Savory Spoon has a really nice, relaxed, homey atmosphere, great staff, local/seasonal emphasis. It's on the Enterprise side of town. Grilla Bites is a chain, so it has some of that atmosphere but they make good food and a real effort to have lots of vegetarian choices. Janya's is excellent Thai food with a pretty standard decor/atmosphere for that type of restaurant. Very friendly staff, usually a nice relaxed place to eat. Priya is bigger and is pretty much a standard Indian-style atmosphere. Some of the best Indian food I've had, including in big cities. We love their Butter Chicken but they also do great spinach, eggplant, and okra.

Great! I'm glad. I see I neglected to say that the food at The Savory Spoon is always delicious.

I've heard Changs Thai on Churn Creek...just N. of Upper Crust is very good and traditional Thai cuisine. Had a friend from out of town eat there last month and said he thought it was the best in town!?

I've heard Priya Indian Cuisine is good??
Celeste W. replied:
Priya is excellent! There is also Sky Mediterranean, Grilla Bites, Janya's (Thai), and a new Pakistani restaurant on Placer, Yaadgar. Neither Sky nor Yaadgar serve alcohol (though Sky has been trying to get a license and may have been successful since the last time we were there). The Savory Spoon has vegetarian entrees, too.
Celeste W. replied:
Right, so you know The Savory Spoon. I would also guess that these days, especially in California, that just about any restaurant you go to would have at least one vegetarian entree, if not more. Now that I think about it, Gironda's has lots of vegetarian options. and the last time I was there, the food was terrific! Plus, I enjoy their atmosphere a lot.
