Getting ready to take THE big step and pop the question to my long time girlfriend. Where is a good jeweler in town? Where did you guys buy your rings? I am looking for...
STEZN replied:
Before buying you may want to talk to her mother and see if a ring is in the family for her. Besides that Idont know shit. Hope it all goes good.

I would talk to Britten Wolf from BVW designs on FB. Highly recommended. You will get by for a fraction of the cost of retail, and he will custom design ANYTHING you want. He will take the time to understand what you are after and has worked for almost everyone in town before starting his own company. He is designing my rings and can turn things around in like a day. https://www.facebook.com/BVW.Jewelers

My wife and I went to Zales and Macy's to get sized, and then bought our rings from [Lorien Powers](http://www.lorienpowers.com/) in Truckee. Lorien designed a custom engagement ring around a family stone. She was helpful along every step of the process. Her design aesthetic hews a little more industrial than the classic wedding and engagement ring styles, but it works for us. FWIW, we live in Truckee but did most of the initial search a ring shopping in Reno.

we didn't live in reno when we got married or engaged but we visited there a lot before we moved here. We actually got my ring at the ultra diamonds inside the gsr

Got a really nice ring from Zales in Meadowood. Great deal too.$4500 ring for $3000. No inclusions and the lady who helped me was very knowledgable. She also wasn't pushy and didn't rush me. My wife bought my wedding ring from there as well.

Local place? Check out Goldilocks.
Lambify replied:
Congrats! I bought an engagement ring from Zales inside of Meadowood Mall. They have very nice inventory.

It's not too late to back out. Besides, it's waaaaaaay cheaper that way.

I worked with Michael and Sons to design and build the ring I wanted. Turned out especially nice. BTW, it's for sale.
carnold744 replied:
Disregard what the other guy said and don't go to Zales. Any chain like that will charge you WAY more than a good local jeweler. I know Diamond Vault is a decent local jeweler in the area. I'm sure there are others, but a google search of "local jeweler reno nv" should show you some good results. Whatever you do, don't go somewhere like Zales or Kay though, unless you want to spend way more than you should.

I have seen some awesome custom stuff come from Michael and Sons, Roger's Jewelers has always treated me well. I have heard good things about Diamond Vault but never been there myself so I can't vouch for them beyond that.

Rogers Jewelers gets recommended by three generations of women in my family. And I whole-heartedly do not recommend Zales. If you know enough about quality/classification then you may want to check out consignment stores as you can get an amazing price for quality. However not as much customizing.
greenducklord replied:
Costco actually has really nice diamonds. But I would head to SF if you want something special.

I have been to Kenny G and Co., but just to get a watch resized and a necklace repaired - I have not bought anything there. They were really helpful fixing my $50 watch and maybe $100 necklace. I have no idea how their prices are on new jewelry but they might be worth a look.

I know it might seem crazy to buy one online, but I highly recommend BlueNile. They have a great selection and are less expensive then a jeweler. There site also has great educational tools so you can learn about diamonds (the four "c" for example).

I can't think of the name, but there is a jewelery store on Mill on (possibly) the reservation near the Walmart. It's in a smoke shop, I'm on my phone so I can't look it up. They have some of the most beautiful jewelery I've seen, non traditional stuff and they're very friendly. Check them out if you can, it's really cool and hidden.
ISO of a reputable, honest jeweler that I can use to check maintenance on ring prongs, has high quality and unique jewelry, etc. Any recommendations would be greatly...

Rogers Jewelers Reno is also good. I take my jewelry there for repair when necessary. Totally reputable and dependable.

The jeweler next to Ala Carte Nails is called Van Rensler jewelers. He's a good guy his name is Rick, he actually used to have a Diamond cutting class there.
Kathy K. replied:
We go to Hub Bros/Forever Rox in Incline. They do all work on site instead of sending out. Prices and quality are awesome!
