You should look at Crull Fitness at II Creeks - they train lots of young athletes/soccer teams etc. not sure about whether kids can train with their parents but Coach Red, Coach Nate or Coach Donny will be able to answer your questions http://crullfitness.com

I had my youngest workout with Jessie Dorsey (she ROCKS!) at Heights Rec Ctr for a while. She showed him how to use the machines and use proper form. Since he reached teenage status he works out with a group and on his own. The staff may want to make sure the kids know how to use equipment properly.

Public centers? Try Muehlenbeck Center in Plano. Non-resident rates still aren't bad compared to private gyms.
