RVA Daycare for Newborns With No Waitlist? Anyone know of any daycare starting at 8 weeks that does not currently have a long waitlist. We had a daycare fall through....
rabbiferret replied:
Almost everywhere has a waiting for infants. At the end of last year, only 40% of the needed slots were serviced, so wait-lists get stretched. When my wife looked through work (June 2017), the didn't have an opening until March 18.

Your best bet may be to find a temporary nanny/help from family friends while you wait for the daycare you want. Don’t feel backed into the corner, I hope you find something!

What part of town? Try Leafspring.

If you can’t find a center and are okay with an in-home, I’d join one of the mom groups on Facebook and see if anyone knows anyone. As far as a center, location and price point?

My wife and I are looking around as well. I'll keep you posted.

Do a nannyshare with some friends.

I toured Kindercare and La Petite Academy in Midlothian recently and neither had a waitlist. Not downtown but just putting it out there.
We are moving to the area and are in need of reliable child care for a 4 year old and a 1 year old. We are on a pretty tight budget for right now. Any suggestions?...

I would second The Starting Gate preschool for your 4 year old. My 2 yr old son attended there full time this last school year and both of my sons are in the summer program now. You can get information about them at http://beautifulgate3.com/the-starting-gate/. Rates and available days/times can be seen on the Registration Form: http://beautifulgate3.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Fall-2015-Registration-Form.pdf

Raggedy Anne Daycare on Clarence behind Westover Hills Elementary School. Cathy Creasey is the owner and is so invested in the kids. It is small and very hands on. She was nominated for the best in the city. The children leave her care very well prepared for grade school. She fills up quick so go check her out.

Our 2 & 3 year olds are starting at Forest Hill Pres (http://www.fhpcrichmond.org/childcarecenter) in July. We have visited and hear great things! They are now at Tuckaway Ellwood House in Carytown. It's great but more $$ and further away.

Our friends use this woman, who runs it from her home. I believe they do it part-time, and they have young children. They seem to really like her, so you might want to check her out: https://www.facebook.com/.../Kathy-and.../250840081610955
