Looking for garage / mechanic recommendations Hey all,
This is my first year having a car up in Rochester. I have a 2009 Subaru Impreza. There's a few things that I'm...

Morris Auto, very honest and would tell you not to repair something if it doesn't absolutely need to be repaired (Personal experience for about 10 years). Jesse is the guy running the shop. Can't recommend them enough. Ps. it's less than 5 minutes from campus right off of Townline Road. Also, they can give you a ride back and forth if you ask. Oil changes are ~$20 plus tax for the standard oil. Not sure about Full synthetic, maybe a few dollars more? Good luck. Edit: Link to Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Morrisauto52/ They have some prices and rates posted on there.

I use Mt. Hope Automotive over by the U of R's College Town. They're reasonably priced and very thorough--they've often fixed minor things they've noticed wrong with my car for without my asking, and without charging. It's a small shop, but they can do anything and can usually get you in the next day. Full disclosure: I have a personal acquaintance with the owner's family. A number of years ago the owner's son was a member of a youth group I volunteer with. But my recommendation is unbiased--I wouldn't use and recommend them if the service wasn't exceptional.

About 30 minutes away, but I can't recommend Switzer's auto tech enough. Rick (the owner) is awesome and honest. Even if you know nothing about cars he won't try to take advantage of you and charge a higher price. It's family owned and the owner himself is one of the mechanics. Multiple times with my 2 previous used cars they pointed out other issues they found and told me whether or not it would be a good idea to get them worked on, but left it up to me to decide in the end.

Avoid the one that's right on East River outside the campus exit by global village. I've been there because it was walking distance from my UC. The owner was a dickbag

C&C auto on Scottsville Road near 390 is really nice. they offer a shuttle service (noticed you mentioned that in other comments) that's reduced if you're a college student. They'll save you money if they can and will do a great job with your car. I got in an accident and received a $3000 check from insurance to fix my car and C&C fixed everything listed for $2000, instead of just taking my full 3K. Highly recommend them for any car stuff you need.

If you need anything specific to your Subaru, you'll probably want to go to Van Bortel in Victor, but it's probably too expensive for routine maintenance for a student.

Anybody local who would overhaul our snowblower for next winter? Oil change, tune-up, etc. Maybe with pickup and delivery? I have no way to take it anywhere.
