My buddy Paolo Weird Magnanimi has a Roman restaurant. Eat like the Romans did 2000 years ago - which is very different from today. He is a dear buddy and as his name states: Weird in the best possible way. Pease say HI from me!

PS: Far from all restaurants are good, too many tourist traps in Rome.Ironically, RossoPomodoro on Piazza Argentina is a chain and is very good for city centre.

There's a thread in this very page called "Critiques of my restaurant ideas" - it's stuffed with suggestions for a fellow US traveler. You will see referenced a list of restaurants featured on Eater.com - the consensus is that it is very balanced, so I would use the suggestions there with the ones in the thread itself and start exploring considering the closeness of each place to your accommodation within the city (the Eater feature comes with a very useful map).
