Recommendations for a great equine dentist? Someone that is happy to sedate as the old boy needs to be!
Trish S. replied:

Debra Y. replied:
Brendon Cohan...or his son...he trained Clair and Hayley..if brendon cant do your pony he can reccommend someone.
Kathryn S. replied:
I use Brendon Cohen but main ridge vet and especially Tim are fantastic! You can't go wrong.
Jess L. replied:
If you don't need sedation I'd highly recommend Brendan Cohan too, I've used him for over 10 years and he's the only one I'd let near my horse! It would probably be cheaper to get him ($75) and Kylie tiler vet to sedate ($80) than the dental vets ($350+)
Geraldine C. replied:
Try these guys, they are brilliant, qualified and very experienced. http://www.equinedental.com.au/.../victorian-dentists/
Eleanor C. replied:
Peter Borgdorf (think its spelt) wouldnt let any other person near my horse. My mare is shocking and he is so quite with them.
Jen G. replied:
There's a couple of schools of thought about a local Dental Vet and the quality of the work. I won't buy into that debate BUT sedation is a powerful drug. It has side effects and I don't like to have hoses 'topped up' with sedative frequently for minor dental procedures. It has its place for extreme cases but IMO not run of the mill procedures.
Kirsten G. replied:
Paul Owens is great! Qualified vet and dentist and is very gentle with horses. Does a full examination prior to sedation and even does a sheath clean for the boys whilst sedated haha! Regularly goes overseas and teaches etc-used at the RSPCA as well:)
Geraldine C. replied:
Ditto Brendan, he has done my horses for ten years. I have seen him do clients' horses that they insisted need sedating and he did them without sedation and they were relaxed and happy and calm:)

Peter Borgdorph (spelling?) is fantastic but you'll need a vet to sedate before hand -Kylie did to for me when we had Shae clipped a few years ago:)
