Definitely get two or three quotes, if the quote ain't free then you should flee! Most dealerships have a go to shop for their bodywork, if you search for past posts like yours you can find out which dealers use which shops. You can also contact your insurance company and ask for a list of shops they would have sent you to IF you had coverage. Insurance companies have no time for bullshit and don't tend to do business with bad shops who do bad work. Yelp and the BBB are good places to look. Get 3 or 4 quotes and choose the one in the middle or lower middle after researching the shop online for complaints. Good luck!

Quality Auto Body@Lamar and 183 Really fantastic guys - I've had two cars repaired through them and have been really happy each time. Probably not the cheapest, but they're honest, do great work, and will probably work with you a bit on trying to keep the cost down (sourcing parts, mainly) if there's any possibility at all.

A shop will always inflate the estimate if you're paying out of pocket, because they know they can't call you and raise the price if they find additional damage not in the original estimate. Don't count on a lower final price if they don't do all the repairers on the estimate, though, as these guys are only in it for the profits. I did damage appraisal at a North Austin body shop, and the only advice I have is to go with a dealership or corporate shop in case you get screwed. You can be a squeaky enough wheel with those guys (yelp, etc), but if Jose at Jose's Shop says no, there's no ladder to climb.
