Can anyone recommend a good, affordable dentist in Manhattan? I received a pre estimate for a surgical removal and replacement of one tooth and somehow it's gonna cost...

Doesn't a surgical removal of a tooth require an oral surgeon and not a dentist?

At my Brooklyn hospital clinic we charge $600 for the implant and 4-6 months later $600 for the implant crown. You can pm me for a consultation.

Dr. Kevorkian does good work!

By replacing a tooth, you mean getting a dental implant? $4000 out of pocket doesn’t sound too crazy, and more importantly, you don’t want to be overly cost conscious about a procedure where a dude is drilling a hole into your skull, performing a bone graft and then driving a titanium screw into the pilot hole he created in your jawbone.

Get more estimates. Go to an oral surgeon at a dental school instead of one who's running their own practice, where costs are generally higher. Try [NYU](https://dental.nyu.edu/patientcare.html) or [Columbia](https://www.dental.columbia.edu/teaching-clinics/implant-center). Sounds like your insurance is shit if you have to pay that much out of pocket anyway, so you might as well go to whomever you want rather than whoever is in-network.

Honestly $4 k isn’t that crazy. I have very good dental insurance and I still paid $2.8 k out of pocket for an extraction, bone graft, implant, and crown
