I need to get a urine sample from my cat and bring to the vet. Where can I get those crystals that won't absorb the liquid? Or is there a better method? Thanks!

For sites that say dry foods are not good for your animal, there are as many that say it is... It all depends on the ingredients and how much fresh water is placed in your home for your animals. My cats have only eaten an excellent whole meat based (first ingredient), with very little filler and have lots of fresh water. You have to check the ingredients on both dry and wet foods... there are some very bad wet foods as well. One of our cats are almost 19 and has never been sick (only been to the vet for needles)... the other cat is almost 13 and has only been to vet for needles and short term asthma. http://www.catster.com/cat-food/cat-food-wet-or-dry

I seen those kits at Topsail Vet Clinic on Topsail Road...stored on the shelf with the kitty food
Denise C. replied:
If she eats dry food (hopefully not because it's terrible for them) try increasing her fluid intake by giving her some homemade unsalted chicken broth (just boil some chicken and water) and if she eats wet food, try adding some water to her food, make her more likely to urinate. I need to take my dog to the vet, but I'm on a budget. Who is the best vet for a reasonable price?
Sandy A. replied:
They're all expensive but I've found Avalon Animal Hospital on Logy Bay Road pretty good. Sunrise are the most expensive in my experience.
Sara M. replied:
Dr. Sadie at St. John's vet. I love her.
Lyly F. replied:
You should apply for a Petcard in case it turns out to be more expensive than expected www.petcard.ca

I love Dr. Noseworthy@Sunrise. She is amazing with my 3 dogs

FIV Facts 1. The Feline Immuno-deficiency Virus is a slow virus that affects a cat's immune system over a period of years. 2. FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines. 3. FIV cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all. 4. FIV is not easily passed between cats. It cannot be spread casually - like in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing. It is rarely spread from a mother to her kittens. 5. The virus can be spread through blood transfusions, badly infected gums, or serious, penetrating bite wounds. (Bite wounds of this kind are extremely rare, except in free-roaming, unneutered tomcats.) 6. A neutered cat, in a home, is extremely unlikely to infect other cats, if properly introduced. 7. Many vets are not educated about FIV since the virus was only discovered 15 years ago. 8. Despite what many people think, cats with this condition can live perfectly long, happy, healthy lives.

I think if you live outside St. John's the SPCA has a Spay/Neuter program and inside St. John's the Animal Services on Higgins line has a similar program for Spay/Neuter for low income families or individuals. Not sure about vaccinations. Would be best to call around.

Hi Lisa, we are currently not able to hold monthly microchip clinics the way we used to. Hopefully you and your pup can make it out for the Walk!
Our bunnies need their nails trimmed. Im not at all comfortable let doing it. Is there anywhere to take them? Which vet cares for bunnies again?
Hoppy R. replied:
Hi Jaime, we normally use Sunrise Animal Hospital for vet care, but I would think any vet clinic should be able to do a nail trim. If you want to make it easier, you can drop over with them and I'll trim them for you. I do it all the time:-) Send us a PM.
