Hi Janene, jack says to take it to a local auto parts store such as Auto Zone or NAPA. Often they will pull error codes and tell you what is wrong, free of charge. Hope that is helpful!

Janene...you can always come see your friends at Keith Auto Repair...we will take care of you, I promise! Error codes are like flipped breakers, they only tell you there's a problem...interpretation tells you where there problem is and how to fix it!

If it is that your car put up some alarm like "check engine", O'Reilly's Auto Parts can do that. Otherwise, I think they will all charge for diagnostics.

Thank you, Connie Armstrong, Lois Crosier Park, Ruth Yoder, Carla Johnson Keith, and Mary Roddy Scott. I checked with Advanced Auto Parts and they do that diagnostic thing, but only back to a '96 vehicle. My T-bird is a '94. Carla, I didn't think my car would make it downtown. Plus, they read me the short list and I didn't think it would be any of those. Finally decided to take it to you know who across the road since I was concerned about how far I could even get in it, but I've definitely learned to compare prices on them. When Adrienne went with me to bring me home it was running ok. The other night when it didn't sound good I was in pouring rain. I've kept up on all the maintenance and just had the fuel filter replaced this summer. Does it sound legit that the rain could affect it?

OH ... we recently dealt with this with Hannah's car - too old for the modern diagnostic machines. I can't remember if hers is a '94 or '95 (hers is one and Kenton's is the other). I have become a firm believer in AAA after having to pay for tows too many times. All four of our cars are "old" (mature!! lol). Hannah was concerned that her car was beyond help because of what they were telling her - and we actually LOVE and greatly TRUST our mechanic! This one thing was simply puzzling him. We ended up taking it to Doug Scott!!!! Do you know them? They used to live in St. Jo. When he retired from being a pilot, he bought a car repair place in Gladstone and he was wonderful for us! Ended up costing Hannah just a little over $100 to fix!!!! I only tell our story to encourage you! I hope you get it figured out.
