I'm not in Chicago but once upon a time I planned a retreat there, and before it got too big, I was really eyeing this place: http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/illinois-chicago-raysbucktownbedandbreakfast.html

As someone who actually lives here I'm really bad at this kind of thing, personally...since I have my own home and all. But I know Sara Benjamin Quam has found good deals for apts/condos for short term rental in the Gold Coast/River North/Streeterville areas. Where is ALA meeting? At hotels downtown? McCormick? At any rate, gold coast/river north would be convenient for transit and proximity to things to do. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw things in the west or south loop as well, which would be good. If you want to send me a link to something on a map at any point I could tell you if it looks like it should be avoided based on location.

Gold Coast - every time i'm there I stay at Flemish House: www.innchicago.com/

Hi Andrew, I haven't used this service for Chicago (yet) but friends and I have had incredible experiences renting through airbnb.com. Might want to give it a look-see. Good luck!

E. Lakeview. My neighborhood. Five-10 minutes by express bus from MI Ave.

The Gold Coast is beautiful and easy... But I'm a big fan of the Andersonville area. Neighborhood-y, great restaurants, family friendly shops, easy to catch the el downtown....and Taste of Heaven...best bakery/ breakfast place in the whole wide world! And you might find it more affordable to find a place to accommodate your family.
Margaret W. replied:
I agree about Andersonville. Have you tried airbnb? An apartment rental website with many apartments in Chicago.https://www.airbnb.com/
Tara K. replied:
The Gold Coast or Streeterville would be best. I grew up in Chicago and have lived in several neighborhoods, so if you have any questions, feel free to send me a message.

I recently stayed at Hotel Ivy. It was an amazing hotel. But extremely expensive. The giant tub and stand alone shower was the main reason we booked it. In the two days we were there I took 3 baths.

Not exactly a resort but my partner and I spent an anniversary at the Bloomington Doubletree. The King whirlpool suite had a jetted tub that was basically the size of a hot tub.

Check out Le Meridien Chambers in Minneapolis. It’s downtown, the hotel is beautiful, plus they have these giant egg shaped bathtubs to soak in

There are some lovely B&Bs in Stillwater. My favorites are Rivertown Inn and the Elephant Walk.

Celeste hotel in downtown Saint Paul has suites with "garden tub" . It could be a good fit.

No suggestions, just wanted to post and tell you that I think this is a great question. As a fellow tall person who spends a decent amount of time in hotels, I am always bummed when I see a birdbath instead of a proper bathtub in a hotel or B&B. Here's hoping you can find something!
