I'm thinking of getting the LASIK procedure done. Can anyone offer recommendations on good Doc's in the Tampa Bay Area? I'd love some feedback if you've had it done.

Shyann Malone I just had both cataracts done in each eye and a Restor lens implant inserted!! Had the 1 st eye in November, and the 2 nd done in December!! I now don't need glasses or reading glasses!! I would recommend Doctor Mark D. Oberlander, M.D. wi th the Eye Associates of Pinellas, 9375 66 th Street North, Pinellas Park, FL 727-541-4469 !!!! I had been wearing glasses for 55 years and now I feel free smile emoticon smile emoticon Painless, awake during the procedure, and didn't feel a thing!!! How that helps smile emoticon smile emoticon John Schultz

Hey Shyann, everything went well with mine, I went with Laser Institute..., but I will recommend getting a lifetime warranty, because your focal vision will change again in 5 to 10 yrs, so with a warranty you can get it done again for free, just pay office visit with doctor. (about $200)

Go to Dr. Groden at LasikPlus. He did Tony Dungy's eyes. I thought it was the best thing ever. http://www.lasikplus.com/doctor/lewis-groden
Does anyone have a recommendation for LASIK surgery in the Tampa Bay area? Cost seems to swing wildly from $250 per eye to $2500 per.

I went to Florida Eye Center on 9 th Ave N. Had a detached retina and had Laser surgery and they saved my vision. Wouldn't hesitate to go back to them and Im a nurse.

Come to Fort Lauderdale. Actually Sunrise and Millennium Laser Institute and Dr. Corey Lessner. Simply the best.
Fred G. replied:
I agree Dr. Updegraff is the best in the area. I would definitely go to him if I were a candidate for LASIK.
Hart T. replied:
Updegraff both eyes I was lucky that they were able to do mono vision- operated on one eye for distance and left the other alone for reading that was in 1999 as my eyes aged and changed did other eye for distance and original eye is now for reading and that was in 2008. Updegraff and his father hold 10 patents on the equipment and machinery used for the surgery which allows him and his team to fine tune the laser and the keratom(sp?) while those places that are less expensive have multiple DR's using the same equipment and are generally limited to 3 or 4 selections on the fine tuning.Dr. Updegraff often ends up doing corrections to those lesser expensive procedures. He is more expensive, but also more experienced, has more control over the fine tuning, uses his own equipment and you really do get what you pay for.
