Christine, Stauntons is like staying on Chicago's Gold Coast.......It would have been the premier neighborhood in the period of the Protestant Ascendancy of 19 th. Century Ireland. It's like living in a real life Masterpiece Theater "Upstairs/Downstairs town-home. Even today the Residence of the Catholic Cardinal of Ireland is only 3 doors down the street, also on the Green. Across the street (Park) visit the Shelbourne Hotel for a drink in the Horseshoe Bar......then before leaving the hotel go back into the lobby and take the stairs that wrap around the steel cage elevator and walk-up 2 or 3 floors.....each floor has a landing 1/2 way up.....so in 3 floors you will hit 5 landings. On each one is a magnificent antique piece of furniture from the 1800's. At least it was like that the last time i was there (about 10 yrs. ago) In this country we think something is old if it was made before the 1950's. Have a Great Time, & A Happy New Year. Jim
