I can vouch 100% for Jill Hollander and Brian Pon at Financial Connections, I worked with them when I was going through my CFP training. Feel free to call me if you want to discuss them or other options - I know the Bay Area financial planning community well! Happy to help.

Teddy V!! Joseph D. Garcia is the best!! I have worked with Joe (at Merrill Lynch/BofA) for almost 15 years. He's a good friend and a great guy- but also very smart and knows his stuff!

Ted, Dan is spot on. You're going to pay fees regardless of where you go for generally the same advice at lower dollar amounts. I had Morgan Stanley managing my funds until 1.5 years ago when the firm told me I'd have to pay several hundred dollars per year in managment fees because my accounts had (get this) less than $1 million in value. Those fees were on top of the fees charged by the mutual funds Morgan Stanley recommended for my investments. I'm still taken aback by the tone of their letter. They didn't even call to convey the news. They essentially said, if you have a million come to us, if not don't bother and get out. Find an entity that will charge the lowest fees with the greatest potential bang for the buck.
