Holiday Dog Boarding, Bay Area? Help! Over the past few weeks called a lot of services, didn't hear back from most, and a few that did get back to us were already booked...

Every Dog Has Its Daycare in Emeryville is great. You may have already tried them, though. They'll need an "interview," which as I recall is a meet-and-greet to confirm that your dog gets along w/ others. They keep big and little dogs separate, as well.
Not sure if you've tried calling any of these but these are ones I know and have used before. FWIW I've noticed that a lot of these places are *terrible* at returning calls or emails - not sure why, maybe they're busy minding the dogs? You may have to *hound* them... (bad pun - sorry) [SF Houndlounge](http://sfhoundlounge.com/) offers open (not in kennel) boarding which can reduce anxiety in a lot of nervous pooches. Likewise [petcamp](http://www.petcamp.com/) I think offers open boarding for some dogs And you could try [these folks Pawsitive Tails](http://sfpawsitivetails.com/petsitting.html) - they offer at home housesittting which might suit your dog

Also have a pound puppy with "issues" made me weary of kennels, etc. Found http://petsittingtothemax.com/ and couldn't be happier! Call Amy/Deb/John, they're very friendly people. My dog loves them all. I hadn't traveled the first two years I had my dog because past experiences with friends trying to watch him and what not did not go well. New job requires travel, and I wanted to go see family. I now know I can leave and my dog is very well taken care of. Tell them Barry sent you. Good luck!

I highly recommend a DogVacay.com. Your dog stays at the host's home. We found a wonderful host in the Santa Cruz Mtns near wherewe live.
