Sell what you can locally and take what you can in suit cases. The cost and damages to ship back are rarely worth it. You can ship your stuff back (American goods returning) with a consolidator. However, you still have to hire a customs broker and bonded warehouse in US. You can contact American airlines cargo it was $1.50 a pound 2 years ago.250$min. To Miami. UPS and another Florida West cargo. Beringer Air Cargo is new player with daily flights. Ocean cargo heading north has always been a problem and it still 75% of the cost of airfreight. I've moved back and forth over 30 years. Ocean consolidation freight is good coming down, not going back.

Ask on Tamarindo Garage Sale. People there gave me a list of companies that transport back and forth between that area and San Jose. We got our move done for a really great price, but now I lost the name of the company myself. It was recommended by a bunch of people.
