Can someone recommend a good dentist in the Bay Area, one that does wisdom teeth removal? Looking for a dentist, live in San Mateo, so somewhere near there would be...

For wisdom teeth removal, you want an oral surgeon, not just a dentist. Oral surgeons are specialized in the removal of wisdom teeth among other procedures. Going to a regular dentist is riskier as they are not as experienced with wisdom teeth removal. With that said, I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Timothy Thoai Nguyen in Milpitas (very close to Great Mall), who is an oral surgeon and I highly recommend him. I initially had three out of four removed a couple years ago since my insurance only covered that much. Then, about a few months ago, I had my last one removed. From those two experiences with him, I've had zero complications since the procedures and the procedures were quick and painless (he gave me local anesthetics). I was in and out of the office in less than an hour total. All four of my surgery sites have healed nicely. Here are his Yelp reviews: http://www.yelp.com/biz/timothy-thoai-nguyen-dds-milpitas They'll pretty much reiterate my personal experiences. His office is pretty far for you, but when it comes to surgery, I'll take the extra effort to put myself in good hands.

I went to one in Alameda that was fantastic. On the day of the surgery, he had me in and out of there in 30 minutes (I had great IV sedation and the two he took out weren't impacted). This guy: http://www.yelp.com/biz/randall-w-stettler-dds-alameda They took insurance and I think I only paid $70 for the whole thing, including the sedation!

I got one yanked by Dr Ehsan and now I have to see him again. He was no-nonsense but cool. Downtown SF. http://www.yelp.com/biz/david-ehsan-md-dds-san-francisco

The dentists at Foster City Dental have always been really good for me. I would highly recommend all 3 dentists who work there. The hygienists Rosa is also very good.

You need a DDS for that, I believe, not a regular dentist.

I don't have a dentist to recommend, I just wanted to sympathize with you about your wisdom teeth removal. I had all of mine removed (along with the teeth right next to them) and know how much it sucks.

I believe you'd be better off looking for an Oral Surgeon, not just a regular dentist ... though I'd be happy to give you a head's up on a *great* dental office in the South Bay, if you like... (and this coming from someone who *hates* dentists and skipped through *many* offices before finally finding someone who could act human)

Although I think he's based in San Jose now, Dr. Kriss Ghafourpour took two of my wisdom teeth out a few years back. I don't know if he's just extra good at what he does or if it was because I only got two teeth out, but I had pretty much no problems post-surgery. There was minimal swelling (no chipmunk cheeks!) and I didn't need painkillers at all. Though this was probably a poor choice, I was out with my friends eating dim sum (albeit awkwardly) the next day. I'm actually getting the other two out next week with the surgeon at Hui Dental (right in San Mateo!) so if you'd like, I can give you another post-surgery report or something, haha.

I've been a long-time customer of Ronald Grafton (http://www.yelp.com/biz/ronald-e-grafton-dds-pleasant-hill) however his son (who is also astounding) has been doing the heft of the business lately. Today, I live in San Francisco, but I am eager to make the trek back out to Pleasant Hill because of the amazing level of care I've received from this office for the past 12 years. When I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed, they referred me to an amazing oral surgeon (A long time ago, but I'd guess it was Kenneth J. Fraga).
I recognize this is far from san mateo, and I don't expect you to make the trek. However, if you are willing to, you will love it. If you a reader other than the OP that lives in the east bay, don't deprive yourself any longer -- call this dentist.

I recommend Ali Iranmanesh http://www.yelp.com/biz/ali-iranmanesh-dmd-md-concord#hrid:5MUJntSG78-D3PUaTwL1Mg/src:self He didn't remove my wisdom teeth but did remove a cracked moral. He was very good. I experienced no pain and didn't require any pain medication afterwards. Not even Tylenol.

Wow, 3 for Dr. Nguyen. I actually really like my dentists ( hubby / wife team). But it seems that all the work they have done has been...um...faulty. 3 rd cracked filling in 5 years they did. I've had fillings that are 25 years old that are still intact.

Sorry Emma posted that before I was finished typing! Lol! Cali has been going to her since she was 2. The girls love Dr Jaime. They also love the fact that they can watch DVDs while having their teeth worked on! Cali has had 2 cavities filled and they do a wonderful job making a stressful & 'scary' time so much less worrisome (for both mommy & child). I would highly recommend them because of this!
