I need a website and I don't have moolah for a web designer right now. I bought a domain on godaddy and need to build the website there. Braden Anderson I know you do...
David G. replied:
@Braden: I was just suggesting to Felicia that there were alternatives. I have a friend developing a site on Wix, and he's asked me for content. In my particular case, I used Evans Burik at DeaconWorks to develop my own website, and she was a Godsend. www.deaconworks.com

Try Weebly.com. It's free. Karen, my wife, builds and maintains her own site. It's very drag and drop simple. They even supply a "store." You can transfer your domain names to wherever you like. GoDaddy drives me crazy. They are constantly trying to sell me some thing useless. There are other alternatives as well. For instance, I drive my folks to ReverbNation. I know you're already on their site. I may develop my own site to drive people there. For now, it's nice to be on RN and experience the opportunities it provides first hand. I've heard very positive comments about their "Gig Finder."

After doing a lot of research, I decided to go with WordPress to build the site and with Green Geeks for hosting. WP has lots of great templates that look professional and I hear it's easy to update the site yourself. Green Geeks is awesome because they're powered by renewable energy and they have excellent customer service -- they'll answer any questions you have. Good luck!

Another note about Weebly.com. You may have to explore a bit to find a music player. Could be what's known as a "Plugin." Weebly is a great place to start to simply become acquainted to how simple certain web concepts are. Good luck. Percolator John.
Felicia: Take a look at WIX.com, which walks you through building a website, and will host it for you.

Check out squarespace.com, Felecia.

Do you do it on your laptop Braden? We could transfer my feleciaford.com domain and go with whichever one you suggest. I will pay ya some too. Thanks so much. How soon can you do it?? I'll start dropping high Rez stuff and wording, widgets ect... Can you meet Tomorrow?? I've got the domain on all the CDs going out, it'd be cool to throw a couple things up so there's not a dead-end.

My friends Sandra and Garret P. Vreeland are worth talking to. I know they have a project in Tokyo right now, so they are used to working at a distance. They designed and built www.permadesign.com for us, and it rocks. They've been doing this kind of work since its inception and know photography, too.

Hi Catherine, try Paul Hambly, amazing smart and talented. Very reliable. He's based in Melbourne but he's sorted out web stuff for me on both personal business and government contracts. Good luck! Jx

Catherine: I recently found Web.com a pretty good designer at a fair price. They design your site to your instructions and charge about $90 per month to maintain it on the web.
