Does anyone use an old-school travel agent these days? Any recommendations? Would said agent need to be near where one lives, or could business be conducted from a...
Thanks Steve. I have also gone through AAA here in Santa Rosa, and before that a variety of travel agents in Berkeley and Santa Rosa. Agree generally, but what's the internet again? I know Mark A. Wilson has good reasons for using the services of a travel agent based on his recent trip to China.

Planning my upcoming trip to the Burgess Shale fossil deposits and wondering (why I have no idea) if I should continue to rent vehicles directly with Hertz, Enterprise, etc., or make arrangements with a travel agent.
Yes, I do for work with the State of US National Weather Service Reno Nevada here in Reno, NV. Welcome Aboard Travel. They do a fantastic job and stick through it all even when things go badly--like the plane does not land in the expected city they were suppose to. I just call them up on the phone and tell them what I want and they send me everything via email to approve and book. I have never met them in person, but they have performed outstanding for 7 years. Yes, many time my travel is very complicated and require that I have multiple stops and different states, renting vehicles and arranging hotels. I honestly get the best rates with Enterprise and National Car.
