I had terrible teeth, and was terrified of going to the dentist (just because I hate the guilt trip). I went to Packham Avenue Dental, and it was the best dentist I've ever had. Not only did she not make me feel bad, but actually fixed things and gave helpful advice.
shrubzilla replied:
Dr Fahie at Downtown Dental is great, he's been my dentist since I first grew teeth and has always been great.
Jarwhal replied:
Massage- Allison Toews at Walpole Massage Therapy. She's wonderful.

If you are looking for gentle dental care, go to Dr. Nina Moe. She's terrific and kind. Our kids even like to stop in and say 'hi'.

For massage, Christine at Inside out Therapies is fantastic. For dental, I have gone to Dr. Harrick-Kelln for years. She owns Stonebridge Dental Centre. I used to be terrified of dentists, and she helped me overcome that. Can't recommend her enough.

For dental, I like Dr. Hammer at [Downtown Dental](http://www.downtowndentalsaskatoon.ca) - 4 th floor of the Midtown Tower. For massage, I like Travis at [Sutherland Chiropractic](http://www.sutherlandchiro.com) - by the Pizza Hut on Central.

Dr. Prestupa at Stonebridge eyecare or Dr. Hillis at Naylor and Murdoch for optometrists. I haven't found a dentist that I really like yet.

Stonebridge Eyecare is great. For Dentists, try Dr. Gryba at McEown Ave Dental Clinic.

Dr. Milne at Willows dental is fantastic.
JazzMartini replied:
To find a good dentist, I used https://www.ratemds.com. Lots of good or decent options, also easy to spot the ones to avoid.
robstoon replied:
I haven't had any major dental work done (just cleanings and fillings) but all of the ones I've seen at Lawson Dental have been good. For an optometrist, I have had good experiences with Dr. Salisbury at FYIdoctors downtown.
Aerrianna replied:
Dr Ross Houseman at [The BigTooth](http://www.thebigtooth.ca/). Really good at what he does, doesn't belittle you for not flossing. Also pulled all four of my wisdom teeth at once and I was back to eating beef jerkey a day and a half later. His son works there too and he's just as good.
I am looking for a new dentist, family doctor, and optometrist in the downtown area. Anyone have suggestions for me?
Jennifer A. replied:
My cousin is a dentist, and is AMAZING!! He is on 8 th and Louise. Dr. Clint Knudsen374-3266

Wes Antosh at Dentistry on Queen - also not quite downtown but I love them!

the optometrists at Atrium group are good. and if you need emergency help on xmas eve, they'll help. And the staff at both the 22 nd st and downtown (1 st ave) are EXCELLENT at their jobs.
Joel B. replied:
Anyone at Marquis Dental Group. Always had fantastic service. I had a friend whos dentist told her to suck it up for a week with excruciating pain, and I called my dentist at Marquis, they got her in (opening early) the next morning. Over and above, and very convenient located in the old Army & Navy building along with the school board office.

Eric Granberg is the most beautiful and gentle dentist in the whole wide world. I would absolutely recommend him but alas he moved from Midtown to the East side.

[Dr Houseman on 2 nd avenue.](http://www.thebigtooth.ca/) Explains everything he is doing, jokes around to make you comfortable. Doesn't lecture you if you don't floss. I needed all four of my wisdom teeth removed at the same time. Streaming tears, but he made me comfortable, didn't laugh that a 25 year old brought a stuffed animal, did it all in less than an hour with very minimal pain. He actually makes it so I kind of like going to the denist.
Halladottir replied:
Dr. Wes Antosh at the Sutherland Saskatoon Smiles clinic!! I switched to a new dentist because my dental anxiety was getting out of hand and my dentist as the time didn't seem to help matters. I lucked out with Dr. Antosh, he understood immediately when I explained to him my issues and suggested Ativan for the next procedure I needed. It was a total game changer. Getting 3 fillings done was no longer the terrifying ordeal it was before, I could actually feel like a normal person.
ivoryskymorning replied:
I see Dr Dessouki at Wildwood Dental. Both him and the hygienist talked me down from a panic attack at my last appointment. The hygienist used topical anesthesia to get me through my cleaning, and I was prescribed Ativan for my filling and root canals. They also have nitrous oxide available as long as you request it when making the appointment. Their philosophy is that they will do everything they can to make it painless and less stressful, so that people don’t avoid needed dental work.
mollycat1202 replied:
Dr. Roberts at McEown dental. I had the exact situation as you in that I was terrified of dentists and hadn’t gone in over 6 years. He is patient and kind, and if he still has the same assistant, she is lovely as well. They never once made me feel like I was being judged for not seeing a dentist in years, and I’ve always felt very comfortable. Good luck, and don’t stress too much! It’s never as bad as you think it is. And it’s so worth it to get it out of the way and know your teeth are healthy.:)

Dr. Bernie Olson at Sutherland dental was awesome and got me over my dental anxiety. Suuuuper nice, gentle and understanding guy and will freeze the shit out of your mouth so you don't feel a thing (if necessary).
upboatugboat replied:
As long as you tell your dentist you have anxiety and want to be talked through in detail they will accomodate. Go to a larger clinic that has been established for a long time and avoid the university for now and youll find a qualified dentist who will understand.

Looking for Dentist Recommendations Hi, I've a cavity that's starting to hurt. I know I should have gone to the dentist sooner. I am so scared. I don't have a dentist in...
tokenhoser replied:
I've gone to Broadway Dental since I moved here a couple decades ago. I've seen most of the dentists there, or my kids have, and they're all good. Very current on tech (make crowns in-house, which saves an appointment), usually not too bad to get an appointment. They offer nitrous and other sedatives.
Danigirl_03 replied:
I see Matthew at Preston Dental he's very good and they direct bill insurance.
AbsurdJourney replied:
I see Hillary at Wildwood Dental and she’s by far the most gentle, caring dentist I’ve ever been to. She’ll explain exactly what’s she’s going to do before doing it, and always makes sure you’re comfortable and lets you break if you need to. Last time I saw her (a few months ago) she was on quite a limited schedule, so it might be a bit of a wait for her though. Doesn’t hurt to check. Regardless, just make your concerns and anxiety known and I’m sure they’ll accommodate as much as possible.
likmiballz replied:
If you have dental anxiety a dentist can probably prescribe you Ativan beforehand to take the edge off.
SaskabushSaskParty replied:
Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas). Had this for my wisdom teeth. I was so high I didn't care what they did. I was so relaxed I actually was falling asleep while they were pulling my teeth. That shit is awesome.
New to Saskatoon, can someone recommend a good dentist?

Dr Hammer at Downtown Dental in Midtown Tower. He's great! His clinic staff are wonderful. Just saw him yesterday and he's still so nice.
So now that I'm 30... It's probably time I find a dentist. Any recommendations for the Warman/Saskatoon area??

Kenderdine Dental. Any of the dentists there are great! Bryn and Kayleigh even like going.
Alyssa S. replied:
Thanks everyone! I think Gavin Jeffery Gunderson sounds like the best option lol. I'm gonna try the new one in Warman first as it might be easiest to get into. And to be clear so I don't seem like a hillbilly, I have been to a dentist. Just not for a long time! I have never had a cavity either.
Rocky C. replied:
If you decide to go to Warman Dental don't see a certain dentist( call me if you want a name) First, under her guidance, they gave Hanna way too much nitrous oxide. They were insensitive to Hanna's obvious discomfort and Hanna ended up throwing up in the dentist chair. This dentist told me I needed a wisdom removed because there was a cavity in it...not true...she actually wanted to pull it! When I asked what it feels like to have a tooth pulled she nudges my shoulder as if what...I would feel movement somewhere? Luckily I had a second opinion that found no cavity. At the same time she filled a cavity in a molar...number one six. I know that number because of all the grief I went through to get her screw-up repaired. long story short, because of her, I went through one botched root canal, a repaired root canal with a root canal specialist and endodontic surgery (look it up) all because she was inexperienced with root canals!!! Do not, I beg you, go to Warman Dental without calling me first.
What's up today!
- you Rock!!!!
Suggestions on a dentist in Saskatoon? Anybody?
Morgann H. replied:
Allsmiles! I was terrified of the dentist until I saw Dr Goos. She gave me a prescription for Ativan and used the gas as well so I was comfortable. I was super impressed. And they're open every evening!

Looking for a dentist in Saskatoon, that is taking new patients also a reasonable cost. Does anyone have one that they would recommend? TIA
