Looking to get my windows tinted Hey guys, I have a mk7 GTI and want to tint the windows. My mom claims that the car, 100% stock, already has tinted windows, but I do...

http://m.imgur.com/KyA1 eNs This is 20% tint, which is probably the most common. Try to use this as a baseline to see if you want to go lighter or darker. Just make sure it is legal in your state (hint: mine is not).

I had the windows done recently on my Mk 7 R. Did them all the way around at 35%. The shop I use (and have used on a previous car) is Umbra window tinting in Schaumburg http://www.umbrawindowtinting.com . They've always done a good job. Hope this helps. There's a photo of the R somewhere in my post history if you want to see what it looks like (on mobile at the moment so I can't get to it quickly). Edit: dug up the photo, though it might not be the best to show off the tint: http://i.imgur.com/IG9YuV2.jpg

Go to Frankie's in Lombard everyone is always recommending him and he has great reviews and a great price. It used to be $100 for 5 pieces and $140 for 7 pieces but someone told me he recently upped his priced by $40 I believe. You can find him on Facebook or just Google it.

I advise you stick to the legal limit, you really don't want to be hassled. I also recommend you select a higher quality tint, like a 3M ceramic or something. Tint material is cheap and materiel cost is not where you want to be cheap here.

It's a little bit of a drive but Umbra in Schaumburg does very high quality work. Worth looking at. Booking is roughly a month in advance.

Can someone verify how the numbers work on tinting. Is 35% darker or lighter than 20%? It seems like 35 would how dark but I get the impression it is how clear.
